Data Governance Engineer
Description
As the Data Governance Engineer you will:
- Play a crucial role in ensuring information accuracy across the enterprise data landscape.
- Support data integration activities, focusing on shared mastered data for application development and Enterprise Analytics & Reporting platforms.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and stakeholders to understand the scope, requirements, and functions of enterprise data solutions.
- Design and implement a robust data quality (DQ) methodology to ensure high-quality data deliverables.
- Identify patterns of data quality issues and recommend effective, data quality-driven solutions.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of enterprise-grade data environments, including large-scale data warehouses and BI systems.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, robust technical skills, a strong development and analytical mindset.
- Anticipate technical problems when applying business rules and domain knowledge.
- Work closely with the Senior Data Governance Engineer as part of a collaborative team.
- Collaborate with business and technical resources to identify appropriate parameters, functions, and data for testing, validation, and automation of test cases.
- Test parameters may include general function, validity of results, accuracy, and reliability.
- Deliver high-quality, zero-defect solutions to stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years’ experience in the rollout, administration, and operation of at least one Data Catalog Platform
- 5+ years’ experience in a data industry, in some type of analytic-based environment
- Must be able to pass BCI, FBI, and UCJIS background checks.
- Experience in building out an Enterprise Data Catalog in designing process, communications, and engagement programs across the entire enterprise.
- Experience in building out internal collaboration to create a network of data stewards and owners to represent the data assets within the organization.
- An expert in at least one Data Catalog Platform (DataEdo, Alation, Atlan, Colibra, Informatica, etc.)
Knowledge/Skills:
- Bonus: Familiarity with Transit data, data types and data patterns
- Proficient with the Data Management International (DAMA.org) body of knowledge
- Proficient in analyzing large data assets with a working knowledge of SQL, Python or Azure Synapse Analytics - sufficient to lead governance processes and documentation
- Good Working Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
- Technical capabilities to proactively improve processes and data quality
- Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM)
- Proven experience building a stronger culture of governance
- Passionate about data organization and data governance
- Proven data management skills with a reputation for innovation and results
- A driver in change that will lead to measurable gains in data quality and data understanding
- A mentor to new data stewards across the organization

Pay Range: $89,000.00 or more depending on experience
