At UTA we take pride in our ability to take careful stewardship of the funds we receive to run our services.   We are searching for a detail oriented and strategic Senior Financial Analyst to help us grow UTA through a careful stewardship of public funds and our budgets for our construction and operation projects.
 
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the organization’s financial future. You’ll lead key budget projects, analyze financial data, and collaborate with different departments to make operational decisions that enhance efficiency. Your insights will be front and center through financial dashboards and reporting, directly impacting UTA’s performance. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will:
  • Provide budget support and financial analysis to enhance the financial viability, efficiency, and effectiveness of business units.
  • Lead budget and financial analysis projects and conduct ad hoc analysis using complex analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with other Utah Transit Authority (UTA) departments to make recommendations on budgets, operational decisions, and forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain monthly Financial Dashboards and other monitoring and measurement methods to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead process improvement projects to analyze, recommend, and develop strategies for achieving financial goals and improving overall performance.
  • Provide support to the Director of Budget & Financial Strategy in managing UTA’s mission-critical financial reporting and budgeting applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING  
  • Two to five years budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA or similar) highly preferred.
 
SKILLS 
  • Advanced computer skills using current Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with Visual Basic preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong critical and logical reasoning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
 
ABILITIES 
  • Perform technical analytical work without frequent supervision, including collecting and interpreting data using financial reporting systems and other analytical tools and models.
  • Understand, articulate, and advocate for business recommendations and financial solutions.
  • Work individually or as a member of a project team.
  • Understand and apply quality management principles.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $79,000.00 or more depending on experience
