Mechanic/Technician Apprentice (Meadowbrook)

Job Summary
Participates in related technical instruction and attends classroom instruction as required and passes written tests. This is a competency based program. Competency in the following 10 modules must be demonstrated within the time allotted; Preventative Maintenance, Electrical, Brakes, Air Systems, Air Suspension, Steering and Axles, HVAC/EAC. Wheelchairs, Transmissions and Engines. Perform manual tasks under supervision as needed. Assist advance-skill employees in complex repairs and component rebuild using hand and power tools as directed. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and associated repairs. Performs other related duties as assigned. See the Collective Bargaining Agreement for details.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a current, or be able to acquire a class “B” CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days of eligibility.
- Successful candidates must have ALL of the following:
- A current, or be able to acquire, valid Class B CDL driver’s license and associated endorsements.
- Able to pass both an aptitude and standardized test determined by UTA. Employees will be able take both of these tests on UTA time. UTA will pay the standardized test fee, one time, for qualifying employees.
- The required tools.
Successful candidates must have ONE of the following:
- Have a 2-year degree in a related field
- —OR— Have a military MOS in a related field
- —OR— Have one year of related technical school AND one year of related experience
- —OR— Have 6 months UTA experience (TVT/Helper level).
The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee shall verify that employees entering the apprenticeship program meet the minimum qualifications.

Shift: 3:00 pm to 1:30 am with Thursday/Friday/Saturday off*

Pay Rate: $26.52 - $30.52 per hour plus $1.00 to $1.50 shift differential depending on shift, if applicable. This is a four year wage progression. The Apprentice shall receive an additional $.30 per hour each six months as an Apprentice up to the top Apprentice rate beginning six months after the start of the apprenticeship program. Upon graduation, apprentices shall advance to the Journeyist classification and wage (current $36.10 per hour)
