SAN Admin
Description
This is primarily a storage administrator role. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate a passion for supporting and maintaining mission-critical systems and the infrastructure that hosts them, and be capable of maintaining a calm and cooperative demeanor in high-pressure situations. Candidate must also possess excellent relationship building and communication skills.
WHAT EXACTLY THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE WORKING ON:
Performs daily task of researching alerts and system events
Storage provisioning to the business groups
Performs backups and restores as requested by the customer
Works with customer to tune and optimize the storage performance
Serves as first point of escalation for data access related problems
Facilitates change management and security
Ensures compliance with Service Level Agreements as well as with standards, policies and procedures
Authors and maintains technical documentation, standards and procedures, and architectural diagrams
Creates presentations and writes business justifications to support technical recommendations
Manage the DFS environment by creating and administering files shares
Storage Administration supporting the various application teams attached to the SAN in different locations. The storage environment currently includes 3Par, Hitachi and EMC technologies. The individual will be responsible for provisioning, upgrading/patching different versions of storage related drivers and firmware, troubleshooting performance issues, backup/recovery, and automating daily activities around the storage environment.
Qualifications:
SPECIFIC SKILL SETS DESIRED, BUT NOT NECESSARILY REQUIRED:
Experience with Hitachi VSP/USP/AMS storage systems and their software suites
Experience with 3Par E/F/T storage systems and their software suites
Experience with NetApp storage/filer systems and their software suites
Experience with EMC storage systems and their software suites
Experience with Veritas Netbackup
Installation, configuration and support of Microsoft Clusters (2003/2008)
DFS (Windows) deployment and administration
Experience as a Windows Systems Administrator (2003/2008)
Experience with UNIX/Linux
Experience coordinating the technical tasks required to accomplish a major software upgrade, hardware replacement, or disaster recovery exercise for mission critical systems
Quality Assurance testing, change management
