Maintenance Technician - 12 hour day shifts: 3 on/4 off, 4 on/3 off

Maintenance Essex Junction, VT

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
Reporting to the Manufacturing Maintenance & Facilities Manager, this position is primarily responsible for performing preventive, corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment and all ancillary equipment. This role is critical to ensure uninterrupted service of all molding machines, robots, and lens coating equipment. This person will be heavily relied upon when manufacturing operations stop due to equipment failure or break downs.
 
SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance activities on all manufacturing equipment.
  • Performs general equipment repairs, installations, and improvements of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Provides technical expertise for daily issues, and solutions for recurring problems.
  • Leads troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical repair of equipment and processes.
  • Follows safe maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Completes work orders in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Work hours can include occasional nights and weekend overtime.
  • Provides occasional maintenance coverage for other team members.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in a team atmosphere.
  • Assist other maintenance technicians as required.
  • Work SAFELY by following policies and procedures in an industrial environment.
  • Responsible for spare parts inventory.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements
  • 2 Year Technical Degree or equivalent.
  • 3-6 years’ experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and vacuum equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Familiar with FANUC industrial robotics and automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot VFD’s, motors, servo drives, encoders, vacuum systems, and pumps.
  • Knowledge of 5 axis milling machines and G Code Programming.
  • Experience with laser marking machines.
  • Injection molding experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with the programming and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC’s.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working in a team environment with focus on safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Ability to research parts, drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Well versed in manufacturing safety practices and Lockout/Tag out protocols. 
  • Must be able to safely work at varying heights throughout the facility utilizing proper safety protocol. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe lifting capability for 50 pounds on a regular basis and be able to operate lifting mechanisms for heavier loads.  
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, sketches, samples, specifications and be able to follow verbal instructions.  
  • Efficient with Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiar with Solid Works a plus. 
  • Must have good written/verbal communication skills and be a creative thinker. Possess excellent people skills and works well in a team environment.  
  • Open minded and willingness to learn new skill sets. 
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Kaizen practices is helpful. 
  • Foster teamwork and take ownership of the equipment and facility. 
  • U.S. Government authorization required. 
The following skills and abilities are a plus:
  • Experience using shop equipment, such as: drill press, mills, lathe, surface grinder, press break, forklift and scissor lift.
  • Experience using calipers, indicators, micrometers, and multimeters.
  • Experience with rotary screw air compressors, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, and electrical distribution.
Work environment (including physical requirements)
  • May have to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, twist frequently as well as reach overhead. 
  • Able to safely operate basic hand tools and simple power tools.  
  • Wear eye protection, cut, chemical & heat-resistant gloves, and electrical PPE.
