Description

Provide engineering knowledge to collaborate in the streamlining of the manufacturing process, provide manufacturing support, process innovation and cost improvement. Focus in the areas of process, product, and method improvement throughout the supply chain in the semiconductor industry. The focus of this position is on improvements in key operating metrics of: on-time delivery, machine utilization, scrap, productivity improvement, and process capability. The ideal candidate will have 1 – 5 years’ experience and perform the below duties. Less than 10% travel is required to suppliers in CA and the ability to be added to the company’s motor vehicle policy is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing. Act as shop liaison between Design Engineers and Production to ensure products are built to specifications and engineering documents.
  • Ensure standardization and compliance to engineering, customer and company specification for processes employed in the production of interior products.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of supply chain, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts. Provide process efficiency and suitability analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management.
  • Ensuring sustained sourcing, improve supplier quality, and monitor and document supplier corrective actions by working closely with other departments and suppliers.
  • Review and coordinate outside vendor activities.  Manage or develop technical solutions to design problems with vendors and in-house resources through design reviews, design audits and prototype analysis.
  • Investigating supplied product quality issues.
  • Configure & maintain accurate product Bills of Materials & Routings.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness. Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Provide product reliability, design and critical feature analysis and input to product teams.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation throughout all phases of manufacturing development and transfer phases.
  • Production support – root cause problems and find engineering solutions to production issues and close the loop on fixes (using well thought out, long-term, solutions)
  • Determine if a production request for a change merits and ECO.  (Make decisions on ECR’s, may include feasibility analysis, cost/benefit analysis, etc.)
  • Supplier Management and request for deviations.  The ME will have to answer supplier questions about RVSM drawings, and deviations from these drawings

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors in Engineering or related field and 1 - 5 years’ experience is required

Experience in Semiconductor industry or related field is required
