Mechanical/Electrical Assembler

The Mechanical/Electrical Assembler will be required to use standard hand tools and test tools, mount electrical components on panels per assembly drawings. Route discrete wires and cabling per schematics using various electrical terminations. Lift and move heavy material - 50 pounds unassisted. With the ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, Bills of Material and written instructions.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Route discrete wires and cabling per schematics using various electrical terminations
  • Solder stranded and solid wires to various types of connectors.
  • Use a multimeter in troubleshooting shorts and verifying continuity
  • Assemble complex electrco-mechanical sub-assemblies and integrate with production systems
  • Lift and move heavy material – 50 pounds unassisted
  • Squares, aligns, and assembles bases, sills, cabinet frames, or equipment structural components, on floor or floor plate
  • Lays out diagram for electrical installations according to wiring specifications
  • Drills and taps holes in specified locations for mounting control units
  • Attaches breakers, relays, contactors, bus bars, transformers, insulators, regulator cabinets, condenser units, motor and generator sets, meters, plugging devices, and fuse blocks to mounting holes with bolts and screws
  • Cuts, strips, bends, and forms wire cable, conduit, pipe, and tubing used to connect circuits and subassemblies
  • Connects color-coded wires, using mirrors in compact areas
  • Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire ends
  • Tests and adjusts electrical assemblies to holding tolerance to blueprint specifications
  • Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems
