In this role, you will be on the front lines of fraud threats facing RetailMeNot. Your focus will be to protect the integrity of our brand by ensuring only our trusted users receive rewards and only high-quality, incremental sales are sent to our advertisers. The scope of this role will include understanding our current risk management strategy, policy definition, fraud analytics, and fraud operations - and assisting to further build our infrastructure and policy. Ultimately, to be successful, candidates must be capable and driven to identify, mitigate and resolve cash back related fraud activity and account takeovers.

As a Fraud Analyst I, you will work cross functionally RMN wide, demonstrate curiosity and accountability, and influence the direction of the function you support. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to make actionable recommendations that are appropriate for the teams we support. Finally you’ll have the opportunity to be exposed to a fast paced, talented team at RMN and gain experiences navigating an environment of uncertainty, making decisions based on incomplete information, and working with every segment of our organization.

-  BS/BA degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or related field (MS a plus)

-  2+ years experience in a fraud analyst or risk management role

-  Experience working with analytic tools and ability to self-service using SQL, Tableau and Python (familiarity with AWS data solutions is a plus)

-  Strong technical chops with a foundational understanding of eCommerce, affiliate marketing, authentication services, and vendor integration

-  Passion and expertise in identifying anomalies, analyzing sophisticated fraud scenarios, interpreting findings from their datasets, and providing recommendations and/or driving action based on findings

-  Excellent verbal and written communication skills with knack for speaking to less technical audiences

-  Familiarity across risk management areas are a plus, including: fraud risk (account takeover, stolen financials), credit risk (banking, payments), abuse, collusion risk, etc.


  • Identify known fraud patterns, discover new trends, quickly act on risk mitigation, and quantify business impact to management
  • Work with vendors to continually update the quality of ML models and monitor the outcomes to ensure the integrity of our current solution
  • Work across numerous functional areas, including Sales, Finance, and Engineering to ensure Fraud solutions are holistic and understood across RMN
  • Investigate suspicious activities and behaviors within accounts and take action on offending actors
  • Communicate total impact and remediation actions on sizable insurrections across multiple partners from Sales, Finance, and Product
  • Maintain relevant KPIs and how they perform over time
