Summary:    
OCC Operator III is a control room operator with full responsibility for operating and monitoring within our Operations Control Center (OCC) the status of all renewable energy assets (Solar, BESS, Wind) on a continuous basis to ensure that the system meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. Operator III ensures that all renewable energy assets operations are conducted in the most efficient and reliable manner and according to industry best practices. Operator III operates within all regulatory requirements, as well as environmental and safety standards. This role is based in our Denver, CO office.  
Requirements:     
  • Performs lead-shift operator responsibilities including but not limited to shift turnover, outage prioritization, maintenance prioritization, and proper power plant operations.
  • Creates and manages switching procedures for substation switching operations in coordination with Transmission Operators.
  • Monitors and operates renewable assets within our fleet including alarm and warning resolution, substation switching operations, curtailment procedures, call-out procedures, casualty control, and emergency action planning.
  • Manages optimized communication systems for our renewable energy asset fleet, between the OCC and local site personnel, balancing authorities, transmission operators, and off-takers.
  • Maintains formal operator logs of real-time activities, notifications, and communications as required by procedural and contractual requirements.
  • Maintains voltage schedules, power factor setpoints, power (active and reactive power) setpoints in accordance with transmission operator requirements, utility requirements, and interconnections agreements.
  • Provides support to the Maintenance Team in the execution of maintenance plans by providing support (Lockout/Tagout), equipment identification, troubleshooting, work request preparation, or other areas as needed.
  • Participates in the administrative maintenance of plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Trains shift personnel on OCC processes and procedures.
  • Bears responsibility for performance improvement and failure analysis of SCADA systems and OCC processes.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of and ensures compliance with all regulations established by NERC and FERC.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
   
 Qualifications:   
  • Associate’s Degree Technical/Electrical/Engineering degree (or work experience below) required
  • Certification NERC System Operator required
  • 6 years or more Electrical Control Room experience required
  • Scheduling/progress control techniques
  • Experience with the development and management of databases
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • High energy, positive, and ability to work well in a team environment with proven attention to detail
  • Ability to be self-motivated
  • Proficient knowledge of energy management and trending analysis software, SCADA, and Microsoft Office software
  • Functional competencies include teamwork, communication, passion, continuous improvement, and attention to detail
  • Domestic and international travel 5-15%,
  • Valid Driver’s License Not Required.  
 Anticipated base salary range:  $42.93 - $50.51/hr   
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
