About the Role:
We are hiring a Director of Development who will hold primary accountability for setting and achieving business P&L and KPIs. This role will lead a high calibre, multi-disciplinary team leading the development of major offshore wind energy projects in Australia from inception to financial close. This role will be pivotal in leading our newly established Joint Venture between RES and its partner Origin Energy across disciplines of QHSE.


Key Responsibilities include but not limited to
:
  • Lead a new team, fostering a positive culture focused on skill development and diversity.
  • Ensure exemplary Health & Safety performance and staff wellbeing.
  • Drive growth, profitability, and urgency in energy sector transformation.
  • Manage project delivery, communicate key issues and risks to leadership.
  • Draft, implement, and monitor annual strategic business plans and budgets.
  • Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director on global relationship management and commercial strategies.
  • Coordinate with RES/JV functions to support project advancement and innovation.
  • Foster collaboration across project teams and functions.
  • Coordinate with the Head of New Opportunities for project development strategy.
  • Report regularly on project progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Collaborate with the JV Commercial Director on project strategy and reporting.
  • Support senior management in developing commercial and supply chain relationships.
  • Manage relationships with government, political, grid, landowner, and community stakeholders.

Skills & Experience
  • Expertise in project development in major infrastructure and/or wind projects, preferably including offshore wind.
  • Understanding of State and Federal renewable energy policies in Australia.
  • Extensive Knowledge of market, grid and commercial drivers for offshore projects in Australia and relevant process and legislation
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills to motivate and manage internal and external stakeholders’ relationships effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and take personal responsibility to deliver results.
  • Strong communication skills with key stakeholders at high level
  • Proficient in resource management, organization, and follow-through on project delivery.
  • High level of financial and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in successful P&L management for major infrastructure projects.
  • Senior-level management experience across complex projects, programs, and budgets.
  • Familiarity with the closing process to FID (Final Investment Decision), including due diligence and legal requirements.
