Summary:
The Training Manager, Apprenticeship & Safety provides leadership and direction of apprenticeship, technical and safety training for RES Americas in the US and Canada. The Training Manager is responsible for deploying in-house training programs delivered to RES staff, including development of future field training programs and build out of the training facility. This position supervises and leads all Training Instructors within the Operational Workforce Management Department.
Requirements:
- Leads and manages the team of Training Instructors optimizing efficiency for delivering field training, apprenticeship, and crew leadership development programs across remote sites.
- Champions proactively the Apprenticeship program, as well as safety and technical development programs, applying organizational principles including continuous improvement, mentoring, recognition, just-in-time learning, and certification pathways to design, develop, deliver and evaluate curriculum; ensures a clear business benefit for training expenditure, and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Directs curriculum development, sourcing and revision processes ensuring alignment with evolving RES organizational needs and industry standards (Department of Labor Apprenticeship, Safety Management System, Regulatory and Statutory requirements), ensuring technical, apprenticeship and development programs address capability gaps and support strategic workforce growth, and using a variety of education methods for differentiation.
- Collaborates with field leadership, HSQE and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance standards are met (IRA, Safety, etc.) and identify improvements; assesses, audits and enhances the corporate training matrix in alignment with IRA, Safety and compliance standards for process improvement and staff development.
- Demonstrates expertise, serving as a subject matter expert liaison for the operations team regarding training, coaching and apprenticeship pre-requisites/requirements, as well as safety-related messages.
- Maintains relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in partnership with the Operational Workforce Director and HSQE department for use across the organization.
- Defines and collects key metrics to enable accurate and valid measurements of workforce performance, training effectiveness, and to identify areas for improvement. Provides regular management reporting that will assist in guiding daily business.
- Operates Company aligned vehicle in a safe manner to drive to various site locations.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Maintains strategic alliances with industry and training organizations. Stays abreast of current techniques, methods, and skills appropriate to organizational development functions.
- Ensures all necessary Train the Trainer (TTT) certifications are maintained to effectively address training needs and to ensure compliance.
- Collaborates with the Heath, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) team to develop and update Training Policies and Procedures.
- Completes individually assigned development and strategic initiatives.
- Performs ad hoc job-related duties/functions to support the Operational Workforce Management Department.
- Participates in the design, implementation and execution of RES in-house assessment and field training programs held on-site at the Company training facility.
- Performs Gap Analysis on provided training(s) to business.
- Drives multiple delivery methods i.e., classroom, practical, and virtual to maximize comprehension and engagement.
- Works together with other corporate functions to solve issues in a timely manner (Engineering, IT, PMO.)

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related degree; or 10 years equivalent experience, preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician or Lineman License Certification, required.
- NCCER Certified Instructor, preferred.
- OSHA 500 Trainer Certification, required.
- OSHA 501 Trainer Certification, preferred.
- First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification, preferred.
- Safety certifications/designations such as CIT (Certified Instructional Trainer) current or ability to obtain within 2 years, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years or more of proven experience implementing and delivering Training and/or Apprenticeship programs in the Solar, Electric Utility T&D Substation, or BESS industries and curriculum development required.
- Minimum of 15 years of Construction experience in the Solar, Electric Utility T&D substation, BESS industries, or related industry, required.
- Minimum of 1 year of Instructional Design/curriculum development experience, required.
- Travel: Domestic: 51%-75%.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Anticipated base salary range: $117,000 - $146,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
