This role can be based in any one of our global offices or home based with extensive travel expected.
The position
Reporting to the Global Offshore Director and working closely with the Head of Operations (Offshore), the primary responsibility of the role is to lead the business development activities of the Offshore Department at global level. In doing so, the Sales Manager will have to develop and manage the sales strategy and securing new business opportunities for offshore O&M (balance of plant and wind turbines) and as well as for supervision to construction, retrofits and major component replacements.
Accountabilities
As a Sales Manager you will:
- Develop and manage the sale strategy together with a marketing plan
- Plan and manage the sales activities to meet revenue and profits targets for new customers, new services and new markets
- Accurately record and track opportunities, customer interactions and project data within RES’s systems
- Manage the development of proposals, their cost models and profitability
- Manage the development of new services that can be offered by the Offshore team
- Develop and maintain client relationships including preparing and delivering presentations to clients and identifying and generating opportunities to submit bids
- Evaluate partnering and acquisition opportunities
- Support and delver the business development activities of exiting alliances
- Support procurement activities for downstream contracts by providing detailed specification and pricing structure and liaising with the procurement team
- Evaluate technical capabilities and H&S record of relevant contractors
- Undertake customer satisfaction meetings with key customers
- Liaise with peers in other RES technologies to develop best practice and share market insight

- The role also requires:
- Extensive travel within Europe and further afield
- Attendance at key and relevant global conferences including presenting at public events to enhance RES’s visibility in the market
Knowledge
- Deep knowledge of O&M services in the Offshore Wind Market including some knowledge of marine operations and delivery of complex projects
- Extensive relationships and contacts in the Offshore services market
- Working knowledge of O&M agreements, warranties and liabilities
- Knowledge of generating business development and marketing strategies
- Knowledge of business development process typically used for selling services
- Knowledge of the principles of key account management
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, particularly for leading teams drawn from across RES to develop tenders and for presenting our services clearly and positively in face-to-face meetings with clients, contractors and other stakeholders
- Strong numerical analysis skills required for developing cost models to for delivering offshore services (O&M, retrofits, etc.)
- Strong research and strategic analysis
- Excellent organisational skills to meet demanding timescales on a number of potentially simultaneous tenders and other business development activities
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience
- Experience in managing sales and business development teams
- Experience in planning and delivering business development activities (with clients and contractors) for selling services in a B2B environment
- Experience in preparing proposals
- Experience of working within the offshore wind energy sectors
- Strong contract management experience
Qualifications
- Degree or higher in a relevant discipline (engineering, technology, business)
- Hold a driving licence
