Summary: 

The Director, Project Governance & Oversight (G&O) is responsible for developing Project Management processes and procedures that govern how projects are managed and controlled from initiation through close-out within RES. This includes all project stages from handover, engineering, procurement, execution, close-out, and potential hand-off to support services. The G&O team develops and implements a governance framework to ensure adherence to processes and procedures to drive the efficient allocation of resources and enable proper reporting, transparency, and profitability of RES Construction projects.

Requirements:   
  • Leads a team of PMO Managers focused on standardizing procedures to ensure predictable results for the Construction business, including the following key areas of focus;
  • Develop and Standardize Procedures:
    • Designs and implements standardized project management procedures across all stages of the project lifecycle to ensure uniformity and consistency in execution.
    • Continually assesses and updates standard operating procedures to adapt to new insights and industry practices.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring:
    • Establishes a rigorous quality assurance framework that ensures all projects adhere to standardized procedures and benchmarks.
    • Conducts regular compliance audits and reviews to monitor adherence to standardized processes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Organizes and leads PEER Reviews.
  • Performance Metrics and KPI Development:
    • Develops and defines key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness and efficiency of standardized procedures.
    • Implements a performance monitoring system to regularly assess project outcomes against expected standards and targets.
  • Training and Capability Building:
    • Creates comprehensive training through the introduction of a Project Management Knowledge Center.  Creates comprehensive project management training opportunities through tools and standardized procedures available in a Project Management Knowledge Center.
    • Ensures ongoing education and certification in standardized processes to maintain high standards of practice across the organization.
    • Oversees development and implementation of the Project Manager Competency Framework which includes working with business units to complete the Project Manager’s competency evaluation, development and implementation of training plan to improve competencies of the Project Management professionals
  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    • Leads the initiative for continuous improvement by soliciting feedback from project teams and stakeholders to refine procedures.
    • Utilizes data-driven insights to optimize standard procedures, ensuring they evolve with the business needs and industry trends.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Engagement:
    • Maintains transparent communication channels with all stakeholders to explain the value and rationale behind standardization processes and gather feedback to further refine and improve operational standards
    • Operates Company aligned vehicle for site visits and business trips.
    • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
    • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Updates processes and procedures to reflect best practices based on feedback from field operations, project management, and Accountable Lead Managers (ALMs.)
  • Ensures standard processes are maintained in the BMSA (Business Management System Americas.)
  • Works with the Quality team to educate project management staff on expectations and appropriate application of processes and procedures to support delivering successful projects.
  • Benchmarks RES’ project management processes against the best in class in the industry.  Identifies strategies, tools, or process improvements to differentiate RES.
  • Drafts processes, procedures, standard work instructions, and process maps.

  • Familiarity with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with ERP systems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, required.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business, preferred.
  • PMP certification, preferred.
  • 12 or more years of experience in Project management experience in Construction Industry focused on heavy construction / power sector or energy construction projects, required.
  • 8 or more years of experience in a functional capacity with experience in development and implementation of processes and systems, preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience team leadership, strategic planning, continuous improvement leadership and best practice leadership, required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 16 to 30%, required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
Anticipated base salary range:  $170,000 - $200,000
 
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
