The position
RES is seeking a SCADA Engineer in the Group Engineering SCADA and Controls Team. The SCADA Engineer will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support in the design, implementation, and maintenance of SCADA systems and communication infrastructure integration for onshore/offshore wind, solar, energy storage and Green Hydrogen projects. This includes the design of communication networks, control and SCADA systems, telecommunication systems, and Interfaces with OEM suppliers.
You will work with other RES teams to understand the requirements of the projects and define the SCADA integration Scope. The goal is to develop safe, secure, robust, and reliable SCADA Systems and infrastructure that can be easily understood and supported by other team members.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage the design process in accordance with RES Engineering procedures.
  • Defining and managing the overall SCADA integration
  • Site communications (ethernet/fibre optic infrastructure, hardware, network security)
  • System interfaces (hardwired IO, communications protocols)
  • Controllers, Servers, and HMIs
  • Enclosure design
  • Develop detailed specifications, schematics, and documentation for the SCADA system infrastructure including: -
  • Design Plans
  • Specifications
  • Interface diagrams
  • Cable schedules
  • Installation and operational manuals
  • Drawing mark ups
  • Site verification of inspection and test plans
  • Support of site commissioning and testing
  • Some travel to site during implementation and commissioning will be required
  • Implement SCADA engineering improvements
 
Qualifications you will have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Control, Computer or Electrical Engineering. Other degrees with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • UK driving license
 
Skills you have
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English; additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Chinese is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other internal and external teams to ensure that projects are delivered in an orderly fashion with a high degree of safety and quality.
  • Problem solving
  • Communication - Ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and coworkers in multiple countries in a professional and respectful manner.
 
Knowledge you will have
  • Networks and security best practices.
  • Power industry communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850)
  • Automation controllers
  • SEL RTAC and Rockwell Control Logix preferred
  • SCADA Applications
  • Ignition by Inductive Automation preferred
