About the Role:

 
We are seeking a Technical Analyst to join our team in the development of large-scale wind farms. This role will support our development team throughout the development project lifecycle.



 
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Support wind, solar, and storage development teams throughout the project lifecycle by:
    • Updating and maintaining project-specific geodatabases and producing planning layout designs that comply with project constraints.
    • Producing high-quality, accurate drawings using ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro for desktop assessments.
    • Building and maintaining GIS site selection models.
    • Conducting quality control of wind/solar data before analysis.
    • Performing early and late-phase resource assessments, energy yield assessments, and wind flow modelling (linear and non-linear/CFD).
    • Conducting time series modelling of resources for grid assessment and other constraints.
    • Providing technical support for Environmental Impact Assessments and transactions, including technical due diligence and condition compliance.
    • Supporting project engineers with technical input into turbine supply and PV module agreements.
    • Developing site monitoring plans in liaison with RES Measurement Services.
    • Adhering to best practices for all technical assessments and continuously improving technical processes.
    • Developing internal relationships to maintain knowledge and competency.
    • Conducting ad hoc analysis and tool development using Python and SQL.
  • Be an exemplary role model to encourage the avoidance of risk-taking behaviours across the business, committing personally to never “risk it”.
 
Skills & Experience 
  • Knowledge of wind pre-construction resource monitoring and assessment is favourable.
  • Proficiency in wind energy yield and layout design processes.
  • Strong numeracy, statistics, and physics skills.
  • Understanding the effects and mitigation of renewable projects on noise, landscape, EMI, and aviation issues.
  • High-level understanding of the planning/development process for the Australian energy market.
  • Commercial awareness and good organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and experience with GIS (ESRI GIS).
  • Excellent technical writing and report writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good teamwork abilities and problem-solving skills, both collaboratively and independently.
  • Decision-making autonomy and comfort with learning new concepts.
  • Programming skills and experience in statistical analysis.
  • Technical work and programming with Python are highly regarded.
  • Experience in wind analysis, resource assessment, wind flow modelling (linear and CFD), and solar yield assessment using PVSyst.
  • Relevant degree in Renewable Energy, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science).
