About the Role:

 
We are seeking a Safety and Environmental Advisor to support our project managers in implementing safety and environmental compliance systems. This role will provide guidance in the execution of safe practices of construction activities and advise on the relevant safety and environmental compliance standards the industrial and organisational level to clients, peers and contractors.



 
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Maintain regular client contact and relations with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, Balance of Plant, and Supply and Installation Contractors in a non-adversarial manner.
  • Facilitate the setup of RES project systems and ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and report on contractors' project systems for legal compliance.
  • Ensure safety and emergency response plans are understood, communicated, and utilised by all project staff and subcontractors.
  • Assist in implementing, updating, monitoring, and reviewing RES Safety and Environmental Management plans.
  • Facilitate safety and environmental audits, provide guidance on non-conformance, and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Conduct site safety inspections according to the job-specific schedule.
  • Facilitate incident reporting, coordinate investigations, and produce safety alerts from serious incidents.
  • Assist in developing and delivering daily toolbox talks, weekly project meetings, and HSE committee meetings.
  • Temporarily suspend construction activities and notify the Project Manager if a significant safety or environmental risk is identified.
  • Prepare site safety and environmental reports for RES and as required by the client, and compile project statistics for monthly reports to the Project Manager.
  • Drive a culture of recording all hazard reports, observations, and inspections in a logged system

 

Skills & Experience
  • Possesses specialist and technical knowledge on HSQE for the project team.
  • Understands project construction processes for renewable energy projects in Australia.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 and WHS legislation and regulation in Australia.
  • Communicates effectively and provides guidance for line managers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Summarises WHS and environmental risks, with commercial context, to support project delivery decisions.
  • Exhibits effective planning, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Is competent in MS Office applications.
  • Possesses renewable energy project experience (preferred).
  • Maintains a pleasant, cooperative manner, attention to detail, shows initiative, is self-driven, and works autonomously.
  • Holds a current driver’s licence.
  • Has approximately 4 years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment officer/advisor role.
  • Has a minimum of 4 years of experience in a construction environment.
  • Holds a Certificate 4 in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Holds a qualification in Environmental Management.
  • Has Lead Auditor Training in OHS Management Systems (preferred).
  • Is a Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems (preferred).
