The Position
The Acoustic Manager leads RES’ in-house acoustic team and is accountable for the delivery of acoustic services within RES. They have accountability for maintaining a ‘centre of excellence’: ensuring quality and best practice is maintained; managing resource and workload; and the line management of the acoustic team members.
The position works across all technologies including wind, solar, energy storage and green hydrogen, and in close collaboration with other teams (both at a group and regional level).
Organisational Context
The Acoustic Manager leads the acoustics team within the Group Technical Department, and reports directly to the Technical Director.

- Regional development, construction and asset management teams
- Technical and Procurement teams at both a group and regional level
- EHOs and planning authorities
- External acoustic consultants
- Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
Key Accountabilities
The Acoustic Manager is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining a strategic approach to the acoustic activity to ensure that it meets the needs of the business, promotes safe working behaviours and delivers value
- Providing governance to all acoustic activities to ensure that the required quality standards / best practice guidelines are met
- Line management and on-going career development of the acoustics team
- Ensuring that all acoustic assessments are delivered in line with budgets, programmes and needs, for all technologies and in all markets
- Leading the maintenance and development of acoustic methods, procedures and tools for use within both the acoustic team and by RES colleagues, to ensure they are fit for purpose, deliver value and meet the needs of our business
- Maintaining strong links (both internally and externally) to:
- Maintain a high level of knowledge and competency in the field of acoustics
- Ensure all analysis techniques are kept up to date and reflect the ‘state of the art’
- Liaising with relevant national and international standards bodies and maintaining awareness of acoustically relevant developments, with active participation where appropriate
- Performing project work, as required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Ability to inspire, lead and motivate a high performing team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge of acoustic best practice & current policy in all RES markets
- Significant experience with the implementation of such best practice and policy, in terms of the acoustics analysis processes for all technologies and in all markets
- Strategic acumen, proven management experience & a strong collaborative approach
- Significant experience working with external third parties and internal stakeholders
- Understanding of the software development process. Exposure to Python would be advantageous
Qualifications
- Degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline
- Or a suitable trade/non-vocational background with appropriate experience
