Summary:  Provides counsel on legal rights and obligations relating to complex legal matters to protect the Company's legal interests.  

   

Requirements:    

   

  • Completes significant case or subject matter responsibilities and is assigned to most complex tasks.
  • Prepares and reviews legal documents before execution to accurately convey the  Company's intent.
  • Advises on and negotiates commercial and construction contracts, subcontracts, supply agreement leases and other transactional contracts.
  • Identifies risks and proposes commercial terms to mitigate these risks.
  • Provides advice and suggestions to less experienced attorneys.
  • Reviews legal publications and pending legislation and advises management of changes that impact the Company.
  • Collaborates with and supports the commercial transactions and pre-construction team in the negotiation and preparation of Engineer, Procure, Construct agreements and Balance of Plant Agreements for Solar, high voltage transmission and distribution, and battery energy storage projects.
  • Reviews and provides legal counsel for subcontract and supplier liens, construction claims and disputes. Manages outside counsel for construction litigation and arbitration.
  • Manages external legal resources to ensure quality and consistency of service on a cost-effective basis.
  • Assists in preparing board papers summarizing transactions and risks and participates in board meetings as required to communicate transactional structure and risks to the board.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Executes tasks delegated by General Counsel and supports other attorneys.

Qualifications:   

  • Juris doctorate from an accredited law school is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related discipline is required.
  • Licensed to practice law & in good standing in Colorado is required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience practicing in commercial and construction law is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team is required.
  • Ability to travel 5-15%

   

Anticipated base salary range:  $175,000 - $216,000  

   

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
