Summary:

The Plant Manager I will lead and manage in the region and will oversee all field duties and functions needed to run a successful utility scale renewable Solar facility. Responsibilities include training of on-site personnel, corrective, and preventative maintenance of equipment onsite, system testing, troubleshooting, and monitoring the quality and safety of contractors performing any additional work required on-site.   

Requirements:   

  • Manages safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the generation asset, in accordance with agreed contracts, regulatory requirements, operating plans, and budgets.
  • Manages and leads site safety and environmental concerns.
  • Works with and complies with RES HSQE as required.
  • Manages staff or subcontractors in performing Operation & Maintenance on site.
  • Oversees on site work, including employees, contractors, or OEM technicians, as required.
  • Coordinates with contractors before, during, and after execution of work.
  • Audits the O&M contractor's work and safety procedures on a day-to-day basis.
  • Manages and maintains spare parts inventory.
  • Uses facility materials and equipment properly.
  • Manages and monitors SCADA for the generation asset and substation, to ensure proper plant production.
  • Manages tracking of failures, alarms, downtime, maintenance and repairs, plant status and trends, and HSQE issues.
  • Maintains database of faults and maintenance/performance issues.
  • Ensures timely facility repairs and restarts after plant outages or equipment faults.
  • Plans and schedules equipment maintenance activities to minimize downtime, maintains facilities in good working order, and maximizes the availability of the equipment. This includes both annual and major outages.
  • Coordinates, communicates, and complies with the off-taker and transmission provider, regarding the grid, production, and outage issues.
  • Manages and inspects transmission lines performance, safety, and quality as required.
  • Completes and/or assists with NERC/ISO compliance reports with Owner and RES Support Service as required.
  • Maintains the facility according to ISO Standards.
  • Establishes quality relationships with clients, landowners, community, local authority, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaises with the landowners of the facility, dealing with the daily issues as they arise.
  • Manages Monthly, Annual, and all periodic facility reporting to; RES, client, landowner, off-taker, community, authorities, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Manages operational and HSQE procedures.
  • Writes JSA, procedures, and work instructions as needed.
  • Alerts the Director/Asset Manager/RES Engineers, of emerging faults and issues, required maintenance, serial defects, or retrofits. 
  • Identifies and appraises plant improvement opportunities. 
  • Reports to management, regularly as required; safety conditions, production, and environmental issues, planned or unplanned maintenance, etc.
  • Advises the V.P., Director, Area Site Manager, and Asset Manager of short to medium term forecasted costs and required maintenance with changes in expected budgets.  
  • Reviews invoices and costs charged to the asset are correct.
  • Works with AP to ensure prompt and correct payments are made.
  • Works with Accounting representative to ensure invoices and time are coded correctly.
  • Coordinates with RES Fleet Management as required.
  • Provides relief site management or operational support to other sites as requested.
  • Performs any other tasks as directed by management.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

Qualifications:

 

  • High school/GED Diploma or equivalent 4 years of experience required.
  • Associate’s degree in Operations required.
  • Certification OSHA, crane safety or HV preferred
  • 3+ years site Operational experience required.
  • Be self-motivated, able to think quickly and address issues as they arise.
  • Intermediate Excel and Office skills.
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot basic office equipment (printer, scanner, fax etc.)
  • Understanding of network equipment, troubleshooting a plus.
  • Advanced record keeping skills.
  • Skilled in Public relations and Leadership.
  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Basic electrical (low voltage) and switching (high voltage) knowledge and experience.
  • Understand electrical testing procedures and diagnostic equipment commonly used in utility scale wind projects.
  • Basic mechanical skills preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR a plus.
  • Social skills/team player.
  • Must be available on a 24/7 basis to occasionally respond to urgent operational issues. 
  • Must meet body weight requirements for the safety regulations and safety equipment limits.
  • Ability to climb the wind turbine tower (110 meters) occasionally for HSE / LOTO, or work inspection and other related WTG audit activities.
  • Must be legally able to work in applicable state or province.
  • Functional competencies include accountability, demonstrating active care, attention to detail, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Domestic and International travel 31-50% required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Anticipated base salary range:  $85,000- $100,000
