Summary:

The Operational Technology (OT) and SCADA Engineer I works closely with senior engineers to support and maintain our OT & SCADA infrastructure, which includes solar, wind, and battery storage power plants, as well as enterprise environments and operations control centers. This role supports a breadth of activities and disciplines, including OT Networking, OT Systems, Cybersecurity, and SCADA Engineering.

 

Requirements:

  • Provides excellent 1st line support, issue resolution and request fulfilment, assisting via telephone, remote technologies, in-person channels, and occasional on-site visits.
  • Ensures all incidents are resolved and requests fulfilled in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
  • Assists with onboarding new sites, including integrating site SCADA systems with the Operations Control Center (OCC).
  • Supports SCADA data acquisition solutions to ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  • Performs access control and account administration to enable remote access for end users according to industry best practice.
  • Assists with documentation efforts to ensure all processes and configurations are well-documented.
  • Supports compliance with regulatory requirements, including NERC CIP and SOCI standards.
  • Assists with programming, configuring, and troubleshooting firewalls and network switches.
  • Supports Internet Service Provider (ISP) management, ensuring network connectivity and performance.
  • Troubleshoots operational issues related to SCADA, OT networking, and cybersecurity systems.
  • Executes change management requests under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Performs general admin support such as procurement. 
  • Assists with various tasks to enhance the efficiency and security of OT and SCADA systems.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Contributes to the development of business support standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines for incident management.
  • Improves and enhances the call resolution, user documentation, policies, troubleshooting guides, and internal procedures within OT.

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.

  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
  • Receives job and task specific training prior to work commencing.
  • Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or 2 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 1 year or more IT, OT, SCADA, or related field required.
  • Experience with OT networking, firewalls, and network switches required.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based or enterprise IT environments required.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP and other regulatory compliance frameworks preferred.
  • Exposure to SCADA protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, or OPC UA preferred.
  • Exposure to SQL queries and databases preferred.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools preferred.
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • Azure Fundamentals
    • Fortinet Certified Fundamentals
    • Hirschmann Industrial Ethernet Specialist
    • Ignition IU Credential
    • APP RTAC:  SEL Real Time Automation Controller
    • COM 401 Data Communications Fundamentals
    • Microsoft SQL Certification: Azure Data Fundamentals
  • Valid Driver's License not required.
  • Domestic and International travel 5-15% required.

 

Anticipated base salary range:  $71,000 - $84,000

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
