The position
The Bid Specialist will support the preparation, coordination, and submission of competitive operations and maintenance bids for wind (onshore and offshore), solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects across Northern Europe. Working closely with the Bid Manager, this specialist will focus on the detailed analysis, documentation, and compliance aspects of the bid process, ensuring that all proposals are high-quality, well-researched, and aligned with RES’s strategic goals.
 
Accountabilities
  • Bid Documentation & Coordination: Assist in the preparation and submission of comprehensive bid documents, ensuring all required information is accurate, well-organized, and delivered on time
  • Bid Strategy Support: Collaborate with the Bid Manager and commercial team to refine and implement the bid strategy for specific projects, contributing to a competitive and compelling proposal
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including technical, financial, legal, and procurement, to gather necessary information and ensure alignment with client requirements and internal capabilities
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure that all bids are compliant with relevant regulations, client specifications, and internal quality standards, particularly for offshore wind and large-scale solar/BESS projects
  • Costing & Pricing Analysis: Support the development of accurate and competitive costing and pricing models by working with the finance and technical teams to evaluate project economics and market competitiveness
  • Client Engagement: Assist in managing client queries and clarifications during the bid process, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to secure client trust and satisfaction
  • Bid Reviews & Approvals: Help coordinate internal bid reviews, managing timelines, gathering feedback from relevant stakeholders, and preparing bid submissions for management approval
  • Post-Bid Analysis: Participate in post-bid debriefs, analysing the outcomes and identifying opportunities for process improvement in future tenders
Knowledge
  • Wind, Solar, and BESS Technology: Basic understanding of the operational and technical aspects of wind (onshore and offshore), solar PV, and BESS systems, particularly as they relate to O&M and EPC services
  • Bid & Tendering Processes: Familiarity with the lifecycle of the bid process, including documentation, client specifications, and industry standards
  • Energy Market & Regulations: Knowledge of the Northern European renewable energy market and the key regulatory requirements impacting wind, solar, and BESS projects
  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Understanding of the financial and commercial considerations involved in renewable energy bids, including pricing, risk assessment, and contract structures

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring all bid documentation is accurate, consistent, and compliant with client requirements
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders
  • Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information into understandable and compelling bid documents
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Strong team player who can work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to the collective success of the bid
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with the ability to identify potential risks and propose solutions within the bid process
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and prioritize competing tasks
Experience
  • Experience in Bid Support: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a bid management or bid support role within the renewable energy sector or a related industry
  • Multi-Technology Bids: Experience supporting bids in wind, solar, or energy storage sectors, with a focus on detailed analysis and documentation
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working with diverse teams (technical, financial, legal) to compile and submit bid packages
Qualifications
  • Education: Desirable to have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy). A Professional certification in bid or project management is an advantage
  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in another European language (e.g., Spanish, German, Swedish) is highly desirable
  • Certifications: Certifications in bid management (e.g., APMP) or project management are a plus
  • Other: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is essential. Familiarity with bid management tools and platforms, as well as financial modelling and project management software, is an asset
