Research Associate II, In Vivo Pharmacology

Research & Development Cambridge, Massachusetts

Description

Company Overview

Repertoire Immune Medicines is a clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to creating treatments for diseases based on the power of the human T cell repertoire to eliminate cancer cells, target pathogens, and regulate immune function.

Repertoire’s strategy lies in understanding the immune synapse – the interaction between specific T cells and the corresponding antigen-presenting cells that dictate T cell activity. The company’s proprietary DECODE™ technology platform, developed by Repertoire scientists, provides a comprehensive understanding of the full repertoire of interactions between T cell receptors and their antigen targets. We believe the ability to decode these interactions represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science.

Repertoire’s team operates from sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland and uses its DECODE technology to rationally design treatments for cancers, autoimmune disorders, and infectious diseases.

Role Overview

Repertoire is seeking an experienced, highly motivated research associate to join our Preclinical Development team. This individual will be responsible for executing in vivo studies and ex vivo analyses to support identification and preclinical validation of novel immunomodulators.

Key responsibilities will include animal handling and dosing; collecting and processing tissue samples; and performing downstream analysis by flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, and other methods. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, confident with handling mice in an experimental setting, have an in-depth understanding of vivarium workflow, and a keen interest in immunology and disease modeling. This position will interact closely with colleagues in the Preclinical Team and vivarium staff, as well as collaborating with the Nanoparticle Technology and Protein Sciences groups.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on execution of in vivo pharmacology studies, including mouse handling, murine disease model monitoring and scoring, immunotherapy dosing (IV/SC/IP injections), blood sampling, and tissue harvest.
  • Collecting relevant in vivo data, performing regular clinical observations, documenting health status of experimental animals, and disease progression.
  • Assist with ex vivo analyses, including sample preparation, flow cytometry staining and analyses, and ELISA/Luminex.
  • Responsible for raw data collection and maintaining detailed electronic notebooks.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal scientists to design appropriate experiments and help develop new model systems.
  • Interpreting data, troubleshooting experiments, and presenting results at team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of research experience or Master’s degree with relevant experience with performing and analyzing lab-based studies
  • Proven, hands-on experience with in vivo animal models, including animal handling, dosing (IV, SC, IP), blood sampling, and tissue harvesting
  • Competence with models of autoimmunity (including EAE and NOD type 1 diabetes, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in IVIS imaging, tissue culture and sterile technique preferred.
  • Ability to perform multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, and in vitro/ex vivo cell-based assays is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and able to multi-task supporting multiple projects in a team-based environment.
  • Experience maintaining an electronic laboratory notebook and designing/following protocols, as well as familiarity with analysis software including Excel, Prism, and PowerPoint for data entry, analysis, and presentation.

Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce.  We believe in actively pursuing equity in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire.  We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and take action as a company where we can make a difference.

Repertoire is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
