About Us:
We are Repertoire Immune Medicines – a Flagship Pioneering company working to unleash the remarkable power of the human immune system. We seek to harness the intrinsic ability of T cells to prevent and cure disease. Our mission is a challenging one, requiring a complex and multi-dimensional approach that integrates cutting-edge biology and sophisticated, novel technologies. We stand ready to meet this challenge with our unique platforms, world-class team and unparalleled network of researchers, clinicians, academics and entrepreneurs.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I / II to work in the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences team, which is responsible for producing peptide-MHC multimers and other novel proteins for characterization of our cell products. The incumbent will work at the bench to express, purify and QC proteins using biochemical methods such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western, and analytical methods such as HPLC. The candidate will also generate control reagents by expanding antigen-specific T cells from donor PBMCs and will be responsible for analyzing and presenting data to their supervisor and to the team in a timely manner.  As part of a multi-disciplinary platform development team, the candidate will work closely with the departments of Discovery Immunology and Discovery Platform to support the ongoing evolution of our DECODE platform.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cell culture and protein production, and the capability and desire to learn and apply new experimental methodologies. The candidate will be motivated to drive the generation of experimental data at the bench, and will have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills that will enable them to integrate with our highly cross-functional teams. Drive to execute, experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key! The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to design and execute experimental projects under the supervision of direct manager and scientific project leads.
  • Apply and expand skills with protein expression, purification and QC using standard biochemical methods and flow cytometry.
  • Generate antigen-specific T cells from donor PBMCs, and bank and document these reagents according to established protocols.
  • Capture primary data and document work as required in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), maintaining up to date records.
  • Analyze, summarize and communicate data to supervisor and team.
  • Support general lab operations with reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, and adherence to lab safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Immunology or a similar field.
  • 0-2 years of Academic or biotech/pharma laboratory experience.
  • Experience with refolding proteins from E. coli inclusion bodies.
  • Basic understanding of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and common protein expression and purification techniques.
  • Experience with general in vitro cell culture/immunology techniques and culture of primary cell lines.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and solve critical issues related to experimental protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to details.
  • Proven track record of being personable, energetic, accountable, and an effective communicator.
  • Must work well independently as well as an integral part of the team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
  • Motivated by driving the generation of experimental data at the bench.
