Research Associate I/II, Protein Purification
Description
Company Overview
Repertoire Immune Medicines is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to prevent or treat cancer, as well as autoimmune and infectious disease. The company is founded on the belief that the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen codes that drive health and disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODE and DEPLOY suite of technologies, which allow in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to rationally design and develop novel targeted immune medicines.
From its sites in Cambridge, Mass., and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team of more than 80 is creating a new category of immune medicines enabled from its DECODE discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis as well as to enable development of immune oncology-based therapeutics to treat solid tumors.
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate Research Associate I/II to work in the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences team to support production of MHC protein. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with mammalian cell culture or E.coli and protein production. The incumbent will work at the bench to express, purify and QC proteins using biochemical methods such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western, and analytical methods such as FPLC and HPLC. The candidate will be responsible for protein production, data analysis and presenting data to their supervisor and to the team in an effective and timely manner. Interested candidates should have strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills that will enable them to integrate with our highly cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Express recombinant proteins from mammalian and bacterial cultures
- Optimize protein refolding conditions from inclusion bodies
- Execute large-scale protein purifications using Immobilized metal affinity, ion-exchange, and size exclusion chromatography
- Characterize recombinant proteins using SDS-PAGE, WB, protein quantitation, HPLC, ELISA and other biochemical/biophysical assays to determine protein purity and function
- Capture primary data and document work as required in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), maintaining up to date records
- Present data routinely to the Protein Sciences group and other multidisciplinary groups
Qualifications/Experience
- BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Immunology or a similar field
- 0-2 years of Academic or biotech/pharma laboratory experience.
- Experience with recombinant protein expression and purification using mammalian cell lines and/or E. coli
- Experience with FPLC systems and with affinity, IEX and SEC protein purification methods is desirable
- Experience with general in vitro cell culture/immunology techniques and culture of primary cell lines a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills along with excellent attention to details
