Position Overview:
We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to join the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences team to support the discovery and development of novel protein therapeutics. The position will focus on the design, generation, optimization and characterization of protein-based modalities to enable the development of effective therapies for immune-related disorders, including autoimmune diseases and cancer. The Scientist/Senior Scientist will make significant impact on projects and the achievement of group goals predominantly through hands-on experimentation and data analysis. The candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to prioritize hits for protein generation and coordinate biological characterization of molecules. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, curious and innovative scientist with a proven ability to solve complex problems.


  • Lead protein engineering efforts in the design of next-generation biologics
  • Perform molecular biology, cloning and construct synthesis, utilizing external resources as needed
  • Perform mammalian protein expression and purification; contribute to protein production method development and optimization
  • Identify and integrate cutting-edge and impactful protein biophysical characterization methods
  • Assess protein quality attributes, such as purity and homogeneity, through assays, including SDS-PAGE and SE-HPLC
  • Perform biophysical characterization, including thermostability analysis and target binding assessment
  • Independently design and execute experiments, analyze data and troubleshoot methods
  • Maintain up-to-date electronic lab notebook
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on the biological characterization of designed molecules; build consensus around candidates and influence decision making through the assessment of data and presentation of results
  • Communicate experimental design and results to team members, and present updates to department


  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology or related discipline with 2-8 years post-graduate experience in industry or academia
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience in protein design and engineering
  • Extensive experience with mammalian protein expression
  • Extensive experience and track record in protein purification (affinity, IEX, SEC) with demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, purified protein
  • Skilled in protein analytical and biophysical techniques, including HPLC, DLS, SEC-MALS, DSF, DSC
  • Experience with analysis of protein-protein interactions using BLI or SPR
  • Well-versed in molecular biology, cloning, subcloning and construct design with extensive hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of structural biology as it pertains to protein design; experience using molecular visualization software, such as PyMol
  • Experience with antibody engineering and/or biophysical characterization
  • Familiarity with or experience in any of the following is a plus:
    • multispecific antibody or bioconjugate generation and characterization
    • ELISA or Flow cytometry
    • mass spectrometry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Results-oriented, team player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
