Scientist / Engineer , Nanotech Delivery

Research & Development Cambridge, Massachusetts

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist / Engineer to work in the Nanotech Delivery Technologies team, which is responsible for developing and deploying best-in-class immune modulatory therapies based on Repertoire’s proprietary Immune Decoding technologies. This is an opportunity to build and characterize a novel immunomodulatory platform at Repertoire. Working with a dedicated team of scientists and research associates, the successful candidate will contribute to cross-functional efforts to formulate and analyze different classes of nanoparticles and measure their ability to modulate the immune system using both in vitro and in vivo models. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the candidate will work closely with the departments of In Vivo Pharmacology, Protein Sciences, Antigen Discovery and Validation, Computational Sciences and CMC Development advance this new platform through pre-clinical and clinical development.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience related to synthesis, formulation, and characterization of polymeric, lipid, and/or magnetic nanoparticles, including expertise in DLS, HPLC, SEM, mass spectrometry, synthetic chemistry, and lipid characterization. The successful candidate will be motivated by building, testing, and characterizing nanoparticles for complex biological systems, as well as by working with the broader team to drive projects and programs forward. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills along with experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key! The ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed team environment, and adaptability to evolving priorities are a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and formulate a variety of nanoparticles to modulate the immune system.
  • Characterize these nanoparticles thoroughly with the appropriate analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with preclinical biology and disease area teams on using these nanoparticles using in vitro and in vivo model systems.
  • Analyze, summarize, and communicate team leadership and project teams.
  • Document work in electronic lab notebook, and author project summaries as needed
  • Provide scientific, project and laboratory leadership to junior scientific staff. Lead by example with lab safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of biotech/pharma experience post PhD, or MS plus equivalent experience
  • Subject matter expertise in peptide / protein nanoparticle formulations, general chemical and materials synthesis.  Experience with mRNA / LNP technologies is a plus.
  • Subject matter expertise with analytical technologies for material / formulation characterization.
  • Knowledge of antigen presenting cell biology, APC / T cell interactions, and peptide/MHC/TCR interactions is a plus.
  • Experience with in vitro immune cell culture and FACs is a plus

Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce.  We believe in actively pursuing equity in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire.  We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and take action as a company where we can make a difference.
