We are in need of Distributor Truck Equipment Operators for our VSS International, Inc job in South Lake Tahoe for a 2 week project during the summer months. This opportunity is contingent upon being awarded the project.
The ideal candidate will be a safe, hardworking, team-oriented person who is ok with working outdoors on road construction crews.
General Duties
- Safely operate an asphalt distributor (tack) truck to spray asphalt emulsions on roads, parking lots, and other paved surfaces.
- Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, including fluid levels, spray systems, hoses, pumps, burners, and gauges
- Monitor gauges (temperature, pressure, flow) to maintain consistent and accurate asphalt application.
- Follow all safety protocols, DOT requirements, and company policies while operating equipment and driving on public roads
- Work closely with paving crews, foremen, and supervisors to maintain project pace and quality standards.
- Assist with additional jobsite duties as needed, including traffic control, cleanup, and general labor when the distributor truck is not in use.
Qualifications
- Must have good communications skills both written and verbal to interact with internal and external drivers and customers.
- Have a current driver’s license in good standing (Class A preferred).
- Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and communications skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to company goals.
- Must be capable of functioning under fast paced stressful working conditions within live traffic
- Prior pavement preservation experience is required
