People are what make the company stand out.As a Senior Project Engineer, you demonstrate the perfect combination of technical expertise and project management savvy.You are responsible for the development, coordination and review of designs and technical standards for Recurrent Energy’s utility scale solar and BESS projects, managing engineering service providers to achieve this goal. At the core, as a Senior Project Engineer you are an expert coordinator, bringing together stakeholders of every level for effective and profitable project deliveries. This position has the opportunity to be REMOTE with travel from anywhere in the US or Canada. |
Principal Responsibilities |
· Develop, coordinate development, and review designs for Recurrent Energy projects (including permitting and construction support, customer care, and sales support). · Manage the work of engineering services providers and consultants. · Establish, maintain, and improve technical specifications for Recurrent Energy facilities and equipment. · Provide technical support and supervision for the design and construction phases of the project, including value added engineering consistent with the required project specifications and requirements. · Support the performance and LCOE optimization process of Recurrent Energy projects. · Provide technical support for the review/preparation of client proposals and EPC/equipment RFP packages. · Participate in the evaluation and selection of EPC and main equipment suppliers. · Participate in the preparation, review, and negotiations of the technical exhibits for project sales, equipment procurement and EPC contracting agreements. · Complete technical site assessment reviews and pre-design site walk-downs. · Provide engineering and QA/QC support to the project management team during project construction and commissioning. · Attend factory acceptance tests for HV and electrical equipment. · Provide technical support for interconnection in collaboration with transmission engineering team. · Provide technical direction during startup, testing, PV system commissioning and performance monitoring. · Refine procedures for the interface between development and engineering as well as between project managers and engineering. · Evaluation of PV products, emerging technologies and best practices in the solar EPC field. |
Financial & Organizational Scope | Reporting Relationships & Interactions | |
· Collectively responsible for project budgets of $100 – 500 million · Communicate and influence cross-functionally within Recurrent Energy. · Responsible for consultant scopes and associated costs. | · Reports to Senior Manager, Project Engineering · Works cross functionally and collaboratively with all departments · Manages consultant work orders to ensure scope, schedule, quality and coordination requirements are met. · Interfaces with third-party engineering service providers, and subcontractors. |
Requirements | |||
Knowledge & Skills · Extensive knowledge of IEEE and other governing standards for design of solar PV systems · Knowledge of solar and BESS project engineering, procurement, and construction processes. · Knowledge of engineering economics and design optimization. · Knowledge of project contract terms including PPAs, interconnection agreements and real estate · In depth knowledge of either DC/AC electrical systems, HV equipment, civil design or SAT structural design/calculations for utility scale solar projects . | Abilities · Problem solving skills: takes a systematic approach to solving problems rather than reacting to symptoms · Self-development: knows own capabilities, seeks out feedback and responds positively to improve performance · Critical thinking: the ability to break a situation down into smaller pieces to identify its key or underlying issues · Flexibility: The ability to work in a variety of situations, and with various individuals and groups.
