Position Title: Senior Analyst, Project Finance

Department: Development – Central region

Reports To: Director, Business Analysis

Location: Austin, TX* or Remote

*Priority is given to candidates who can work in a flexible hybrid model from our office in Austin, TX, but will also consider candidates remotely. Monthly travel may be required to either a project site or our headquarters in Austin, TX.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Business Analysis, this position will provide project development financial analysis and support utility-scale solar and energy storage project development efforts.  In addition, this position will perform economic analysis, risk management, presentation creation, and transaction analysis across a pipeline of projects targeting wholesale power markets in North America. 

The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in an analytical or transactional role, strong financial modeling skills, and an ability to summarize and communicate complex ideas succinctly. This is an opportunity to join a leading solar and energy storage developer in a role that supports the continued growth of renewable energy deployment across the US with extensive exposure to key decision makers.

Responsibilities

  • Complete financial modeling and economic analysis for a portfolio of greenfield development projects and project M&A opportunities.
  • Perform monthly project budget updates and model roll-up to support Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A’s) reporting to the Management team.
  • Create discrete analysis and supporting documentation to aid land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, project engineering, power marketing efforts, financing activities, and EPC negotiations.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential projects for greenfield development and acquisition opportunities.
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external purposes, including company’s Investment Committee. 
  • Maintain project databases and dashboards to ensure accuracy in internal reporting. 
  • Support discrete project development efforts as necessary.
  • Perform analysis to support strategic and creative initiatives of the company.
  • Analyst’s financial modeling directly supports project-level decision-making, senior management decision-making, and Financial, Planning and Analysis (FP&A) projections.
  • Completes special research and reporting tasks on an ad-hoc basis with audiences up to and including the company’s Investment Committee.

  • Highly resourceful and comfortable working in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Evidence of solid research and writing skills.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Renewable energy development, finance, and/or consulting experience preferred.
  • 2-4 years of work experience, preferably within a transactional industry
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
