PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for planning, executing, managing and maintaining business unit specific communication strategies that aligns to the overall strategy, goals and objectives of the company. This role develops and delivers digital, oral and written communication to provide information across the business unit and within the company for stakeholders. Manages projects or portions of projects involving communications. Ensures a communications program that is uniform and consistent based on the values and strategic priorities of the business unit.

JOB COMPLEXITY:

  • Develops and implements business unit communications strategies and plans to support Company's business objectives with internal audiences.
  • Develops messaging for a broad array of projects and business situations; enhancing company-wide communications through development and execution of annual communications strategy, and standard business communications.
  • Manages business unit leadership communications to employees through publications, events, speeches, videos and other communications channels in order to motivate and focus employees on achieving company goals.
  • Counsels senior business unit leadership and internal stakeholders on effective communications and the impact their business decisions have on internal constituencies.
  • Coordinates with global communications teams and other functions to ensure consistency of communications strategies to internal audiences.
  • Establishes global business unit specific communications standards in order to maintain quality control.
  • Develops and delivers training to build capability among the communications team for best practice and provide mentoring for communications team members.
  • Works with suppliers to produce appealing, high-impact communication materials.
  • Leverages annual communications strategy to increase employee awareness and knowledge of the organizational strategy, policies and programs.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
  • Knowledge of key elements of page layout and design.
  • Knowledge of procedures and information for public relations/communications strategy development, planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of regulatory laws and regulations (e.g., Regulation FD) that govern a company's financial communication and disclosure with outside stakeholders (e.g., investors, sell-side analysts, individual shareholders).
  • Knowledge of format and requirements of specialized writing styles (e.g., speeches, news releases, web content, position papers and consumer response letters).
  • Ability to offer a broad perspective that extends beyond a particular functional discipline (e.g., marketing, finance) and draw upon knowledge that comes from frequent interaction with different departments, employees and sources and constituencies outside of the Company.
  • Knowledge of effective communication channels and ability to enhance management's capability to deliver messages and respond to inquiries and statements from internal and external constituencies.
  • Desire to use digital technology to enhance corporate communication already in place and appeal to a wider audience.
  • Ability to manage projects to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria) to establish clear goals and accountabilities.
  • Also includes the ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans.
  • The ability to create written and visual communication, collateral materials and staging to support high-impact visits, meetings or events.
  • The ability to coordinate the logistics necessary to plan for and execute the tasks needed to create a successful visit, meeting or event.
  • Ability to prepare materials for the media and other audiences by selecting, revising and correcting copy elements.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or related field required.
  • Typically requires 8+ years of experience in corporate communication and client relations, with at least 3 years of experience independently developing and leading significant communications campaigns required.
