PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:  Takes an active role in business initiatives, providing counsel to specific business groups and cross-functional teams and will play a project leadership role, where necessary.  Directs involvement in researching issues and rendering advice, and indirect involvement in supervising outside counsel.  Tracking and implementation of regulations affecting areas, such as anti-money laundering and privacy.

 KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Knowledge of FINRA rules.  Excellent academic credentials, with work experience from a large corporate law firm or an in-house legal position.  Knowledge of FINRA rules.  Outstanding organizational and legal analytical skills.  Outstanding oral and written communication skills, especially in terms of ability to simplify complex legal concepts for business comprehension.  Demonstrated project management skills.  Demonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision and to balance numerous priorities within compressed timeframes.  Ease in working in fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • JOB COMPLEXITY: Requires a thorough and in-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory environment concerning Rackspace’s business and is accountable for oversight of the legal and regulatory issues that influence or impact Rackspace’s business.  Represents Rackspace with stakeholders, regulators, and other external audiences, and includes leadership responsibility for all staff related to the foregoing activity and outside counsel and consultants.
  • SUPERVISION: Operates under no supervision.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.  Law degree.  Successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of legal experience advising on registered funds and general asset management issues, with a strong knowledge of the federal securities laws, Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisers Act.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment.  May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor.  Moderate levels of stress may occur at times.  No special physical demands required.
  • POLICY COMPLIANCE: Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.
