Sales Associate

Sales Hayes, Greater London



Responsible for supporting the Commercial Business Development team and management in achieving and exceeding monthly revenue targets.  The role will report directly into the  Sales manager and create internal and external relationships that drive growth for Rackspace.



  • Excellent knowledge of Rackspace product set and services
  • Excellent knowledge of Rackspace internal sales support processes and functions.  
  • Excellent planning and writing skills for proposals, RFI and RFP responses
  • Good understanding of proposal tools, RFP Processes, and internal systems related to sales support.  
  • Good internal and external customer communication skills. Intermediate negotiation skills.
  • Effective time management skills. Strong knowledge of business units and sales groups.
  • Able to effectively communicate over the phone, through email and face-to-face. 
  • Ability to interact and engage directly with Commercial customers and key decision makers through face to face meetings and telephone/conference calls. 
  • Ability to act as part of a virtual team in direct contact with customers in internal meetings.
  • Proactively cold calling and helping to build campaigns to drive new sales initiatives across prospects
  • Special projects as time permits (i.e. creating customized spreadsheets of customer’s environment, creating scenario’s for commercial negotiations etc )


  • Works closely with Sales Manager to support strategic plans and goals for the Acquisition team
  • Assists Sales Manager and Reps to meet and exceed expected monthly sales target. Assists with qualification and assignment of customer leads
  • Supports Reps with sales campaigns that drive pipeline for the Acquisition team
  • Develop strong relationships with Business Units for Third Party Clouds that drive pipeline for the Acquisition team
  • Work closely with marketing to align sales activities to marketing plans
  • Work closely with Reps to help generate proposals, perform feasibility assessments, and generally meet customer requirements.
  • Develop clear business understanding of prospect’s business needs and how Rackspace fits in with them – where appropriate drive Rackspace product teams to develop new propositions
  • Helps Reps with administrative tasks and internal processes, price books, preparing key presentations and key commercial analysis etc.


  • Works closely with the Sales Manager on day to day guidance but also develops strong relationships with Reps in common goal of achieving team target

  • Team Monthly MRR Target
  • Pipeline size and growth
  • Close ratios



  • Sales experience in infrastructure/managed cloud is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently provide FANATICAL support. 
  • Experience of direct management of Corporate and Enterprise customers with full accountability for targets and overall commercial relationship.
  • Good experience in proposal development and ownership of bid responses
