The Director of Public Sector s a critical, leadership role responsible for the Go To Market Strategy that will ensure Rackspace capitalises on the Secure Business opportunity over the short, medium and longer term.

Initial focus is on the UK Public Sector, with the potential to focus on specific verticals and branch out into commercial sectors (like Banking, Retail). This role will be responsible for building and providing strategic leadership for the business with P&L accountability. This role will be a senior advisor to the regional leaders in supporting their business growth. This includes supporting the development of a multi-year strategy to grow the Secure Solutions business that aligns with Corporate Strategy and leadership objectives.

This position is responsible and accountable for delivering results on revenue, market growth, and NPS targets for all specialties within the EMEA businesses. This role will also be responsible for market insights and trends to identify opportunities and develop business cases and ultimately build new revenue streams.

This is a role that places significant emphasis on consultative engagements with a wide range of customer stakeholders; service users, business owners, system development, auditors and management teams within UK Government.

A Background in working with Government on security accreditation and developing go to market strategies is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to:

Creating and providing senior-level strategy, vision, and operational direction for the Secure Solutions team.

Recruiting, leading and directing a group of top talent, highly motivated Rackers, who are accountable for delivering results.

Defining and driving service standards.

Managing and allocating resources, designing plans and incentives working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Product resources reporting into the functional areas.

Develop an end-to-end business plan, manage revenue targets and associated P&L.

Influence and contribute to the global Rackspace strategy for Secure Solutions working directly with the US.


Build, lead and provide the vision to a high performing team that defines the success for the Secure Solutions business.

Work across UK counterparts to enhance success across the business, influencing GTM strategy and execution covering Sales, Marketing, Operations & Product.

Work with US counterparts to enhance success across the business.

Customers & Market:

Ensure we build an effective external communications plan covering customers, partners, media and analysts.
Design, plan and drive go-to-market events and campaigns.
Creating internal and external visibility and recognition of Rackspace delivery of world class services.
Drive the creation of the on-going GTM demand generation model across EMEA.


Define the Business Strategy for Secure Solutions for the next 3 years
Identify clear GTM tactical plans that leverage the current assets to achieve our revenue goals


Maintain internal communications at a company and department level at all times.
Support the evolution of the UK Secure Solutions Product team while looking to leverage and support global Product
In conjunction with sales leadership and drive enablement, build training programs for all Sales and BDC Rackers - equip them with the credentials to maximize sales opportunities and handle reservations (service positioning / use cases etc)

Work with engineering leaders to identify skill gaps, hire external talent and build technical training for Rackers as required.


Review and gain leadership approval on financial plans based on market and internal capability; assess cost and resource models, sales compensation, revenue forecasts, pricing, churn, P&L etc.
Continually review and provide insight and feedback to the global BU on the commercial characteristics of services. Provide recommendations to improve strategic, revenue, margin or cost performance
Work with Sales leadership to review and evolve the sales model and roles required to create demand and fulfill inbound demand alongside defining clear targets and commission plans. Continually feedback to develop standards and performance.
Determine what external frameworks are required to ensure we able to execute on GTM plans


Define how we will measure performance across the business – drive process to build systems and tools to capture accurate data.
Contribute to the definition of products and services to develop service models, SLA, methods of delivery, resources and capability models, Racker and customer tooling and professional services.
Work with legal teams to ensure all legal contracts and frameworks are rigorously assessed and fully protect Rackspace interests within EMEA. Taking consideration of the legal risks when working on government contracts.
Own and drive the associated revenue and sales targets. The Sales responsibility will be a matrix responsibility where you will enable and leverage the respective sales functions in each region.


Proven operator at Leadership level within a complex customer support environment.
A solid understanding of the UK Public Sector: products, players and current/emerging trends.
Powerful blend of strategic, leadership, analytical, internal control and project-management skills.
Can bring clarity to complex challenges, systems and processes – enjoys connecting the detail to the long term business goal.

Recognized security industry qualification (CISSP, CISM, QSA , CREST, CHECK) Sound demonstrable understanding of cyber security technologies (including but not limited to, firewalls, SIEM, IPS/IDS, wireless, cryptography, remote access, proxies and gateways) Sound demonstrable understanding of security compliance standards (including but not limited to, ISO, PCI, PSN, NIST, Cyber Essentials, GDPR, DPA) Ability to align security with technology transformation to a business outcome.
Comfortable to engage around business process aspects.
Foresees potential commercial, security and business customer objections early in the sales cycle.  Good consultative orientation to customer and partner engagements.
Strong relationship building skills from CxO level down, spanning across security, application design, architecture & operational communities within customers.
Confidence to be assertive and lead the customer where required.
Knowledge across the range of secure system development lifecycle models and accreditation requirements that are relevant in the government market today.
Effective presentation skills with the capacity to articulate assurance and value to varying customer audiences ranging from various IT leaders and CxO’s.
Highly motivated self-starter and team player. Strong consultative acumen and demonstrated cyber security leadership success in prior roles.
