Rackspace is hiring a full-time Program Manager to play a key role in delivering critical global business transformation initiatives. The Program Manager will operate as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, establishing clear governance for successful execution and delivery. The Program Manager will need to be a highly skilled individual to be able to quickly understand Rackspace’s current business and future requirements, effectively operating across multiple business areas to drive and deliver successful projects and programs.


The Program Manager must be able to work in a consultative and authoritative style with multiple key stakeholders at all levels across all geographies. S/he will be accountable for the delivery of multiple change programs, specifically within the EMEA region. Must be able to use strong business experience to identify, define, and deliver strategic projects and programmes, including adherence to relevant performance metrics and timely results.


Communication and collaboration are critical skills, holding senior stakeholders to account as well as the ability to operate self-sufficiently, prioritise workloads, deliver results within ambiguity and adapt to rapidly changing timelines.


This position will report directly to the Director of Strategic Programs (Zurich) and will align with the Global Transformation team (San Antonio, Texas).



Key Accountabilities 

 Define, manage and drive internal projects and programs (regional and global) from concept through to final delivery.

  • Lead and run direct/ matrix project teams, including sponsor and key stakeholders.
  • Create clear and concise project documentation.
  • Conduct thorough Change Management procedures on all projects, minimizing delay and scope creep.
  • Create project budgets as appropriate and ensure that projects remain in scope, on schedule and within budget.
  • Proactively manage deliverables and risks with project team and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain continuous communication on project progress through a variety of channels as appropriate.
  • Understand business constraints and determine/ continuously review the processes required to achieve results.
  • Be able to rapidly learn new concepts and ideas, and from that develop project plans according to business requirements.
  • Seek continuous feedback from key stakeholders and relevant leadership to help refine project delivery.
  • Build and maintain a strong support network throughout the business to enable rapid, positive project outcomes.
  • Add value in all stakeholder interactions, working as a strong partner with all Rackspace departments as/when required.
  • Ability to travel as required




The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of delivering successful projects or programmes, either externally or within Rackspace.
  • A self-starter who takes the initiative to run assigned workload through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and execute workload in a consistent, repeatable and reliable manner in order to maintain high productivity levels.
  • Experience of creating and delivering against efficient and robust project management plans.
  • Experience of working at C-level and holding executive stakeholders to account.
  • Takes the approach of adding value and removing blockers at all times.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to quickly build global relationships.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to summarise and communicate complex information and ideas to all stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the Cloud Computing, and specifically Rackspace business.
  • Demonstrates a strong desire to learn, grown and take on additional responsibility.
  • Ability to take on projects outside of comfort zone.
  • High motivation level and strong attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solving, data analytics and root cause identification skills.
  • Minimum of five years’ in a senior project management position.
  • Either PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certification an advantage but not essential
  • Experience of both waterfall and Agile methodologies an advantage but not essential
