 SAP Database Administrator V

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for all activities and strategies related to the administration of the databases and supported applications.  Projects long-term requirements for database/application administration.   Confers with customers regarding capabilities, performance, and requirements of databases and supported applications.  Assigns and manages employees to various projects and directs their activities. Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. 

 KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

  • In-depth knowledge of SAP supported virtualized environments such as VMWare and Hyper-V as well as Public Cloud IaaS offerings such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, IBM Bluemix, and Google Cloud Platform. 
  • Detailed knowledge of supported SAP operating systems including Linux, Windows, Unix, and SUSE/RHEL/Linux
  • Extensive proven knowledge and practice in SAP Hana and S4 Hana Migration.
  • Proven experience in leading database administration projects. Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making, and communication skills. 
  • Extensive knowledge of database, application, and server technologies including:
    • troubleshooting and performance tuning at the server, application, and database levels
  • Ability to communicate technical info and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions. Ability to apply varying leadership skills and traits that create solutions and results in unexpected situations. Ability to coach and motivate less experienced team members to achieve their goals. Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.

 JOB COMPLEXITY:

  • Develops programmatic and practice protocols to implement the Migration Center of Excellence
  • Manages largest database projects.  Ensures projects are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards.
  • Facilitates communication upward and across teams. Serves as POC for other departments on project status or other project information. Ensures projects are completed according to product specifications and are properly documented, and implementation of the product satisfies the product specifications.
  • Serves as one of several Rackspace’s KOLs for SAP Migration and Performance Tuning.

 SUPERVISION: Migration Center of Excellence Implementation Lead. Mentors more junior DBAs both on- and off-shore.

 EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a directly related field required. MS CS or related preferred
  • 10+ year SAP/SAP NetWweaver DBA and SAP Migration Experience required 
  • 6+ years’ SAP HANA/HANA S4  experience required.
  • SAP certifications in Migration, Support Administration Associate, Hana/NetWeaver required, other SAP certs are a plus.
