We are seeking a top performing technical SME with the passion, experience to advance Rackspace's Anti Virus and End Point security product offerings. The ideal candidate will be a high energy, team-oriented, customer driven problem solver with prior experience in delivering highly scalable and easy to use products for small businesses and enterprises. Must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of: OSs and distributions, patching, monitoring, RAID, security, web servers, cluster management, high availability, root cause analysis, systems optimization, configuration and source code management, database administration, scripting language, auth/directory services, backups, caching, SSL certificates, storage, packet analysis, DNS , HTTP, FTP, SNMP, SSH, hardware, virtualization, networking, firewalls, load balancing, troubleshooting, stack trace analysis, methodologies of design and implementation. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows, Shell Scripting. Able to resolve problems in a timely manner. Understand automation principles and design. Demonstrate ability to learn and adapt to Rackspace specific tools. Seeks out guidance and knowledge. Understanding and knowledge of adjacent roles. Beginning understanding of business impact.

JOB COMPLEXITY: Responsible for implementation of the intermediate architectural design of hardware, software and/or networking systems. Analyzes systems and determines business requirements. Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance. Keeps informed of new technology. Follow and execute Rackspace change management. Contribute and organize a central store of knowledge. Attend interdepartmental meetings. Participates in systems/code reviews and design sessions. Participates in Root Cause Analysis sessions. Evaluate changes using RPN methods and develop MOPs for changes. Take full ownership of the problem life cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide fanatical customer service at all times. Go above and beyond to solve any and all customer issues. Customer service focus is a must
  • Proactively monitor customer trouble tickets
  • Ensure that all tickets and phone calls are handled within appropriate time frames
  • Escalate tickets as needed and collaborate with teammates to resolve customer issues
  • Provide configuration and troubleshooting support for systems maintained by Segment Support (i.e. SCOM, Sophos, Trend Micro, Crowd Strike, Sitescope, eset nod32 antivirus, WSUS, Active Directory, Nimbus, Sophos, RBA)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with antivirus and endpoint security solutions: Sophos, Trend Micro, Crowd Strike, eset nod32 antivirus
  • Experience to review policy on console and implement best practices on IIS, DNS, Active Directory, MS SQL
  • Work with end user to remove virus
  • Manual uninstall and install AV
  • Work with stakeholder to install AV on server
  • Working knowledge about Sophos encryption
  • Knowledge on Sophos Central & Gen X is highly desirable
  • MCSA/MCSE is a plus, but not required 
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 2008, and 2012
  • Working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, web and database servers
  • Advanced load balancing and clustering experience is a plus
  • Skilled in backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical/problem-solving ability
  • Time management, organizational skills, multitasking skills, ability to embrace change
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Experience in the following a plus: C# and or Power Shell
  • You must possess the ability to stand alone in a very technically advanced environment where you may experience and be responsible for solving challenging issues
  • The candidate should be able to comprehend and have the desire to learn new technology while proactively bettering their knowledge to support emerging technology within a fast-growing company
  • Willingness to go the extra mile and be self-motivated is key in an environment where you will be expected to perform and better your skills while taking your career to the next level
  • Degree in Computer Science / IT / MIS or related skill set is preferred, but not required.
  • RGS Requirements: Candidate will need to be a US citizen (FedRAMP clearance will be required once started)

SUPERVISION: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work. General instructions on new assignments. Mentors junior staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment. Some stress may occur at times. Some lifting up to 20 pounds required.
