PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: A Technical Program Manager is responsible for managing technical projects or programs, working closely with external partners, engineers and technical staff to design and launch projects. Requires working with product management to define strategy and requirements. Communicates with with senior management on status, risks and change control.

 

  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Proficiency at leveraging precious resources. Experience with production data centers, operating systems, and platform hardware is highly recommended. Experience managing multiple international projects and people acting as a technical lead. Proven ability to work on assignments that require data evaluation, recommendation development, and decision making. High attention to detail. Accomplished range of skill from high-level strategic thinking to creative and detailed team leadership.
  • JOB COMPLEXITY: Work closely with software engineers, product managers to get high-quality products built, tested, and released on time. Identify and manage risks, making sound judgments about quality, and stopping (or speeding up) production at the right time. Gather requirements and define the scope of the project. Find resources, manage resource allocation for projects. Develop a plan and schedule, with well-defined milestones. Work with Software TPMs to develop and track release milestones and schedules. Manage communication of progress/status within the core team and external to the team (customers, partners, etc); escalate issues as necessary.
  • SUPERVISION: Determines methods and procedures for new assignments. May mentor or lead others.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science degree or equivalent experience required. Masters or PhD preferred. 9-12 or more years of Internet work experience in a software applications environment including program/project management, technical leadership and technical contributor (software engineering, quality assurance) roles.
