Job Description Summary

Applies an advanced knowledge of business acumen, technical knowledge and solutioning principles to a variety of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Azure Stack opportunities and technical delivery. Responsible for providing technical leadership and direction with good business understanding to the Product Management team working closely with the Engineering team. High degree of influence over the product direction.


Job Description


  • Be able to provide technical direction and lead a group of one or more architects to address a goal.
  • Architect and design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Create and review architecture and solution design artifacts
  • Enforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
  • Proactively provide guidance on engineering methodologies, standards and leading practices
  • Guidance of engineering staff and reviews of as-built configurations during construction phase
  • Provide insight and direction on roles and responsibilities required for solution operations
  • Identify, communicate and mitigate Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Decisions throughout full lifecycle
  • Leverages training, education, and previous experience to gather customer requirements, respectfully challenge customer assumptions, and translate into a Rackspace supportable solution.
  • In close collaboration with the sales and delivery team, will occasionally lead customer engagements. 


  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments with little instruction. Influence is beyond their personal role and leads projects with impact across multiple Rackspace teams including but not limited to the Product Architecture, Product Engineering and Software Development teams.


  • Proven extensive technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack with ability to quickly learn new concepts.
  • Helps refine value proposition of products and services to maintain Rackspace competitive edge.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Stack best practices.
  • Ability to help navigate significant deals around internal obstacles to ensure revenue realization.
  • Engages process owners to continually improve core offering and operational processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, presentation, and whiteboarding skills.
  • Track record of success working through technical challenges within enterprise organizations.
  • Track record of success dealing with ambiguity (internal and external) and working collaboratively with other departments and organizations to solve challenging problems.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP workloads on Microsoft Azure and industry trends that affect digital transformation decisions for enterprise organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of Platform Native security best practices on Microsoft Azure.



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business required. Experience may substitute for the degree requirement at a rate of 3 years experience for 1 year of education. High school diploma or equivalent required.


  • Requires 5+ years solutions engineering with proved track record with Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack .
  • Familiarity with adoption of cloud technologies and digital transformation within enterprise environments.
  • Experience migrating from legacy, on-premises platforms to cloud-based platforms.


  • One or more Microsoft Azure Certifications.


  • Occasional travel to customer locations to facilitate sales and delivery activities.
