 The Senior Strategy Alliance Manager works within the Managed Public Cloud team and will be responsible for the development of Alliance Strategy with Microsoft in the UK.

 You will be responsible for developing the Alliance strategy for our Microsoft Azure offering. You will drive revenue into the business by working with Marketing and Microsoft directly, ensuring a significant proportion of our business is generated directly from Microsoft. Your role will be in driving Rackspace to remain Microsoft’s largest UK CSP.


Your voice is critical in the refinement of our global GTM Strategy. You will be a key stakeholder in the evolution of our Product roadmap. Expected to have a well-established network of peers and contacts across Microsoft.


 Key Accountabilities

  • Acts as business owner for alliance programs and initiatives
  • Provides liaison between both Microsoft and Rackspace 
  • Conduct pipeline and partnership review management with Microsoft (Weekly, Month, Quarterly)
  • Contributes to the global initiative to develop services and offerings on the Microsoft platform from scratch with a focus on driving net new business into the partnership
  • Analyses partnering opportunities and recommends direction for partnership and line of business
  • Working with both your direct reporting line and the wider Rackspace leadership team to engage and manage Microsoft at the executive level and act as educator for the alliance partner for their own products and strategies
  • Ensures and maintains a highly positive relationship between both parties
  • Remove barriers, and aligns Microsoft and Rackspace objectives and maximise revenue through the partnership
  • Responsible for accurate sales forecasting of Microsoft sourced leads




  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across organisations
  • Ability to liaise at all levels within the Microsoft and Rackspace organisations
  • Knowledge of IT hosting / Cloud managed service and related service industry with good overall understanding of Cloud and IT infrastructures within a corporate environment
  • Strong experience within the Alliance world, with proven ability to develop Alliance strategic vision and business plans
  • Leadership and people management skills (particularly within Virtual Teams)
  • The ability to perform strategically, taking both a high level view as well as the ability to take a hands-on approach when required
  • You have extensive experience in the Public Cloud arena, ideally with specific working knowledge working with Amazon, Microsoft or Google and the partner ecosystem.
  • You are comfortable addressing/presenting to a range of audiences – small to large, internal and external, front-line to CxO.
  • Self-starter, highly focused and motivated to provide the highest possible level of responsiveness and performance from a team of people.
