The Software / Application Architect is responsible for developing and supporting the technical design and development for application solutions. As part of an architecture team, the application architect will work closely with business analysts and developers to ensure that the technical solution meets business requirements. The individual will also provide hands-on development to assist in the development and implementation of the technical solutions. 

What you’ll do

  • Reviews the architecture of existing application programs and programs in development to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of those programs; reviews requests for program changes required to meet business needs.
  • Participates in meetings with internal and external stake holders to discuss requirements based on new project priorities, changes in legislation and system needs.
  • Produce architecture artifacts (design documents, detailed specifications) to reinforce architectural standards.
  • Plans, assigns and directs the activities of professional and technical personnel involved in the architecture and design functions required to develop applications
  • Takes ownership of driving resolution and makes proposals that include reusable components.
  • Identifies the most suitable technology stack and frameworks, including third-party components
  • Provides technical consultation and estimates in response to customer inquiries for product enhancements, new project development.
  • Interacts with project managers, business analysts, functional experts, or other key personnel to understand and validate user requirements and ensure that the application design meets business and technology requirements
  • Contributes to maturing process, provides oversight and guidance to the development team on architecture best practices and policies and ensures that policies and procedures are followed.
  • All other duties as assigned.  

What you’ll bring

  • Education / Certification: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or equivalent preferred; Coding/Programming Boot Camp or similar practical experience in lieu of degree also accepted. 
  • Experience: 5+ years working experience as a Software Architect; Thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices. 
  • Practical experience using object-oriented design and analysis, enterprise design patterns, and developing enterprise level Microservices and SOA.
  • Practical experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud architectures.
  • 10+ years’ experience developing software, applications and platforms using the Microsoft Technology Stack, including C# .NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, MVC, Visual Studio, Windows Server, SQL Server, Internet Information Services (IIS), etc., JavaScript Libraries, and WebAPI (REST); Expertise with .NET framework/.NET Core.
  • Preferred Technical Experience: Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Windows Service, CSS, JavaScript, XML, AJAX, VueJS, NoSQL/document databases, Apache Kafka, mobile development (iOS, Android, Xamarin), automated testing with CI/CD, and exposure to cloud computing concepts such as Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work with team members and customers in a professional, friendly manner both in-person and virtually. 
  • Trustworthy and accountable behavior, capable of viewing and maintaining confidential information daily.
