Director, Procurement

Description

Primary objective will be to reduce the cost of supply and meet demand requirements, business and quality specifications, and revenue goals. He/she will be expected to add value to the company through managing performance aspects of major contracts and subcontracts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement process
    • Review, optimize, and ensure proper communication of the procurement policy
    • Monitor and measure adherence to the procurement policy
    • Assist in setting and managing budget to provide visibility and predictability of spend and calculate ROI
    • Collaborate with Legal, SecOps, and other finance functions for seamless processing of purchases
  • Negotiate costs with vendors, identifying challenging contract risk areas and providing input on risk mitigation and cost management
  • Assesses current and evolving business models in the marketplace to serve as the subject matter expert for procurement

  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized with prior experience having gathered, structured, monitored, and validated data to ensure data integrity and detailed documentation; has developed a habit of checking the accuracy of data and analysis several times over before submitting for review
  • Strong understanding of contracting principles with the ability to create a contract from standard company or customized contract templates with limited supervision; capable of drafting contract solutions in known contract risk areas to obtain acceptable outcomes with limited supervision
  • Ability to close complex deals in a timely fashion by applying cause and effect thinking to identify challenging contract risk areas
  • Significant expertise in setting up automated processes to increase the effectiveness of the team and minimize room for error
  • Excellent multi-tasker who is always “on it” with stellar time and project management skills; understands the importance of planning in advance to meet deadlines that include multiple review points and iterations
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when work volume requires
  • Strong communicator, both written & verbal; reliable and responsive to email and phone communications
  • Highest level of integrity and good judgment, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement function
  • Experience with a public, US headquartered company preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel is a must (e.g., Pivot table, vlookup, sumif, iferror, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, industry, and complex suppliers
  • Strong knowledge, use and influence of procurement tools and applications
  • Prior hands-on experience with Coupa and NetSuite
