QTC is the central financing authority for the Queensland Government and provides financial resources and services for the State. We manage the State’s funding program in the global capital markets to deliver sustainable and cost-effective borrowings for the Queensland Government, local governments, and other related entities (our clients).
 
With a statutory role to advance the financial interests and development of the State, we help to deliver innovative, long-term solutions that contribute to the growth of Queensland’s economy. We protect Queensland’s financial interests and deliver better financial outcomes by centralising the management of our clients’ borrowings, cash investments, and foreign exchange.
 
About the team:
QTC's Advisory Division plays a crucial role in promoting financial sustainability and operational excellence across various government sectors in Queensland. We’re passionate about supporting our clients in achieving their goals and making a lasting impact.
 
The Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) portfolio within the Advisory Division encompasses critical areas such as energy, transport, water and central treasury management.
This Senior Associate role in the Water team involves entity-level business, financial and credit analysis to support funding decisions, as well as program/project-level financial and commercial analysis to inform investment decisions.
 
Your work will directly contribute to vital water infrastructure investments, enhancing risk management strategies, and improving the financial and economic outcomes for the State Government, Local Governments and their respective water entities.
 
Purpose of Role:
QTC is seeking a motivated Senior Associate to join the GOCs portfolio – Water team, part of QTC's growing Advisory Division in Brisbane on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing thought leadership and advice on strategic, financial, and commercial aspects of the water industry to public sector clients.
  • Undertaking comprehensive research to stay informed on the latest developments and trends within the water industry and share insights with clients and colleagues.
  • Undertaking financial, economic, industry and statistical modelling and analysis, to identify key insights and strategies in diagnosing and solving problems or progressing opportunities.
  • Delivering clear and concise written and verbal communication, tailored to client needs.
  • Maintaining trustworthy, cooperative relationships with all stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
  • Supporting the growth and initiatives of the GOCs portfolio and the broader Advisory Division.
 
About You:
You will bring experience in corporate finance, infrastructure project assessment or financial/data modelling. This role could be filled by an individual with an accounting, advisory or banking background and a desire to make a tangible impact in the water sector.
Experience and competencies include:
  • Proficiency in corporate finance, infrastructure project assessment, or financial/data modelling.
  • Skilled in performing financial analysis and producing high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Experienced in engaging and managing both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills for complex scenarios. 
  • Highly motivated with a focus on continuous professional growth and learning.
