Purpose of Role 
 
The Funding and Markets Division is actively seeking an Assistant Portfolio Manager to join their dynamic team. As an Assistant Portfolio Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing investments and ensuring that clients’ financial goals are met.  
The ideal candidate will have an analytical background in the Australian fixed income market. They will be able to provide data-driven insights to support the division’s objectives. The role provides the opportunity for an analytical person to broaden their skills in financial markets and expanded into portfolio risk management. The role provides essential support functions to portfolio risk management, responsibility for client borrowings, collaborating on QTC data initiatives, and providing enhanced reporting, data analytics and system support.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities 
  • Responsible for analytics relating to client borrowing products and drawdowns, execute client duration rebalances within target and liaise with internal stakeholders.
  • Support Asset / Liability Mismatch portfolio management process through portfolio risk management activities and quantitative analysis.
  • Develop an understanding of the Australian short-end market and manage the portfolio risks within approved limits set by the Executive Director.
  • Support the Liquidity portfolio manager with the management of cash, money market assets, client variable rate loans, working capital facility and floating rate cash flows.
  • Maintain data, enhance and develop processes that support Funding and Markets objectives, including pricing tools and liquidity modelling.
  • Develop an understanding of the Australian money market and fixed income market products. 
  • Responsible for developing quantitative analytics and reporting for Funding and Markets, including analysis of interest rate curves, valuations, risk measures and performance measures.

  • Support the development and implementation of the approved strategic direction of the function.
  • Excellent data modelling and dashboard design skills. 
  • Proficient in SQL, Python or related skills with proven hands-on experience.
  • Possess technical knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Power Platform (particularly Power BI and Power Automate). 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview and data governance principles are highly regarded.
  • Problem definition and solving skills, including the ability to understand and break down problems, and assess the root cause and the right solution.

Qualifications 
Essential 
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline required for professional roles.
Desirable 
  • Power BI / Power Platform certifications
  • Python or R certifications
  • Post Graduate qualification or CFA
  
Experience 
Essential 
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in roles that demonstrate overall competency.
Desirable 
  • Experience in banking and finance industry highly regarded.
