Senior Associate - Financial Reporting

Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for delivering high‑quality financial reporting for QTC and its associated entities, while providing valuable insights and advice to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role
You will ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information through strong internal controls, well‑designed processes, and expert application of accounting standards. You will play a key role in preparing financial statements, supporting audit processes, and contributing to organisation‑wide reporting and planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ELT, RAC and Board technical papers on financial reporting, tax and accounting matters, including the annual RAC update on changes to financial reporting requirements and their impact on QTC’s financial statements.
- Prepare annual proforma financial statements in line with QAO timeframes.
- Respond to internal and external audit queries and provide required documentation.
- Support QTC‑wide reporting including Corporate Performance reporting and the annual Business Plan, delivering accurate analysis and insights.
- Prepare sustainability and emissions reporting.
- Manage State and Federal taxation reporting obligations (PAYG, payroll tax, FBT, GST and tax equivalents).
- Liaise with key external stakeholders, including auditors and government agencies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow automation.
- Support the Finance team with ad hoc tasks as required.
About You
You are a strong technical accountant with excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly. You’re proactive, collaborative, and committed to high reporting standards.
Technical
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, tax legislation and financial reporting requirements.
- Ability to interpret, analyse and clearly explain financial information.
- Skilled in researching emerging accounting changes and assessing impacts.
- Proficient with finance systems and the Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI).
- Good understanding of financial controls, risks and governance.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Professional membership with CPA Australia or CAANZ.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in financial reporting roles.
Desirable
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience with Finance 365.
