The Software Test Automation Engineer Role 

  

Join our vibrant team as a Software Engineer in the fast-paced and innovative Data Integration Infrastructure Team. We believe in the power of data to change the world and are looking for individuals who share this passion.  

  

As part of our global R&D organization, you will play a crucial role in building and supporting Qlik’s Cloud-based Data Integration Infrastructure and Data Connectivity components, contributing to transformative discoveries in data.

Here’s how you’ll be making an impact: 

  

Strategic Testing: Review market requirements, functional specifications, and detailed design documents to derive comprehensive test objectives, ensuring the quality of our products. 

  

Automated Testing: Design and implement automated test scenarios, execute automated test suites, and analyze results to enhance testing efficiency. 

  

Manual Testing: Design and execute manual test cases as needed, aligning with test objectives, and contributing to a robust testing framework. 

  

Framework Contribution: Contribute to the maintenance and further development of the test automation framework, ensuring its effectiveness and relevance. 

  

System Maintenance: Bootstrap, configure, populate, and maintain test systems with third-party data sources for both automated and manual testing purposes. 

  

We’re looking for a teammate with: 

  

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience, is typically required.
  • 5 or more years of test automation experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in ensuring product quality.
  • Experience using scripting languages, particularly JavaScript, to create testing tools and automation.
  • Ability to analyze functional test plans, deriving thorough, optimal, and complete automation objectives.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming, with the ability to write modular and extensible code.
  • Capability to research and interview effectively to obtain technical information for automation tasks.
  • Ability to understand the technical design of the automation framework and formulate innovative ideas for its extension.
  • Some experience using Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Microsoft Azure is preferred.
  • Domain and technical experience in databases, data formats, protocols, and data access using technologies/APIs such as ODBC, JDBC, REST, XML, JSON, etc. is a plus.
  • Experience in systems management is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, contributing to effective collaboration.
  • Experience with Agile development methods and iterative planning.
