Helpdesk Analyst I

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Perform full level 1 desktop, laptop and phone support at the user level and basic level 1 support at the server/network level.  Provide PC and phone helpdesk duties; monitor and improve user and system performance in terms of effectiveness and speed.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform PC and phone helpdesk support; monitor and improve user and system performance in terms of effectiveness and speed.
  • Provide level 1 server and network support.
  • Manage tape backup systems, tape rotation and retention procedures.
  • Manage virus protection and patch installation systems for PCs, servers and email.
  • Accomplish work in an organized, timely manner producing necessary results in spite of unforeseen changes; communicate effectively and alert team members and supervision if deadlines are in jeopardy; maintain high ethical and quality standards; and correct your own errors; and, regularly produce accurate, thorough, professional work. 
  • Additionally, recommend continuous improvement ideas and assist in implementation as required; take personal responsibility for service excellence, sustainability and safe working practices; and, understand and adhere to our Principles & Values and all company policies and procedures.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have experience in installing and configuring printers.
  • Working knowledge of PC/Server hardware, windows and MS office software.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess critical and methodical thinking skills to address issue quickly and effectively.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of remote access/VPN technologies

PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of experience in an environment directly supporting end users, diagnosing PC and server hardware and software issues.
  • Must have experience with supporting remote and de-centralized users using native Windows and 3rd party utilities.

EDUCATIONAL AND/OR TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

  • BS in Computer science or equivalent work related experience.
