AP Accountant
Description
THE ROLE:
ProbablyMonsters is seeking a Accounts Payable Accountant who is experienced in all aspects of the AP Cycle from procurement to payment and can read, understand and apply GAAP policy to day-to-day operations. This position works with internal and external customers, so having a customer service mentality is a must have to successfully interact with a wide variety of audiences, including Monster team members, leadership, studio members, suppliers and customers. We are looking for someone that has a “roll up the sleeves” mentality along with a “teamwork makes the dream work” attitude. This role has growth potential and will need someone willing to take on new responsibilities as we grow as a company.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Experienced AP accountant who has been looking for a fun department to work with, grow with and learn from.
- Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and understand the importance of a good life/work balance.
- Has good research skills, knows how to find answers but also knows when to ask for help
- Is a stickler for getting the job done right the first time and understands the importance of accuracy.
- Fully understands debits and credits.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Review, enter and code invoices, expense reimbursements, and other transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting classifications and internal processes.
- Assist in monthly close accounting activities including preparation of journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
- Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to process payments and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage and maintain vendor records and internal documentation.
- Assist with preparation of year-end tax filing and audit records requests.
- Collaborate across departments/studios to develop and enhance internal processes.
- Other general accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
QUALIFCATIONS:
- Working knowledge of the AP Cycle and how GAAP applies to the process.
- Has experience in medium volume payables along with vendor management and AP policy application.
- Can work autonomously with general oversight but can also jump into team projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and processes, including accounts payable, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets
- Exposure and experience in job costing or the gaming industry.
- Strong operational accounting experience, knowledge and analysis skills
- Experience in a start-up work environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong individual contributor but works well in a team environment
- Proficient in organizational and time management skills to independently prioritize multiple tasks and bring projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Software knowledge of NetSuite, and expense reimbursement software
- Above average Excel skills
- Working knowledge of GAAP and debits and credits

Compensation:
- This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
- In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
