We are currently working on an unannounced, original multiplayer game that is being published by our partners at Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Firewalk Online Experience team is looking for a DevOps Engineer who is experienced in online services and wants to help set the path toward releasing a multiplayer-game that excites and entertains millions of online players. You will be responsible for developing tooling, processes and engineering features which are central to ensuring reliable and timely releases and advocating for insight and practices which will be necessary to meet the needs of a 24/7 operations team.


  • You have experience in the DevOps role, with an understanding of release processes, scaling, security, operations tooling and measuring distributed system performance and stability.
  • You are familiar with the Linux operating system and common Linux daemons such as sshd, systemd, etc.
  • Experience with at least one operational scripting language (Bash, Python, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud services (Google Compute, AWS, Microsoft Azure) is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux system tracing tools (BPF, strace, tcpdump) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems is a plus.
  • You are capable of writing documentation which can be used by other DevOps, QA Engineers, or Developers.
  • You can effectively collaborate with other teams such as QA, third-party service providers and other partners.
  • You are interested in learning new technologies and practices in DevOps space.
  • You understand operations and network security technologies and practices, such as firewalls, routing rules, key rotations, defense-in-depth, etc.
  • You have a desire to achieve a high concurrency distributed system that protects the player’s experience.
  • You are comfortable promoting your ideas to the team and collaborating to iteratively improve them.

  • Actively monitor and manage service deployments, checking performance metrics and service health.
  • Work with QA to ensure a smooth playtest and take feedback on their processes and requirements.
  • Meet with a partner team to discuss the operational impact of their feature.
  • Document requirements and processes for future development with a goal of standing up a DevOps team.
  • Participate in daily playtests to see how the game is playing and how your work affects the product.

  • You have at least 3+ years' experience working in a DevOps environment.
  • You are comfortable working in a Linux/WSL development environment.
