Senior Tech Animation Designer

ProbablyMonsters is seeking a Senior Tech Animation Designer who is experienced in UE5. You will join a team concentrated on building new game concepts and worlds centered around a focused player experience. As part of the Incubation team, you’ll have the freedom to create, experiment, and try new game ideas while forming new franchises and development teams. Everyone on the Incubation team is enthusiastic about helping to shape a culture of collaboration and trust while creating best-in-class games.       
WHO YOU ARE:       
  • You love working with animators to create high-end in-game performances. 
  • You are experienced and knowledgeable in Unreal 5 Animation Systems. 
  • You are excited about learning/developing new and untested techniques to push the quality bar higher. 
  • You advise animators on ideal workflows and understand the importance of sharing knowledge. 
  • You are effective at presenting your positions and ideas to positively influence the project. 
  • Work with animation and design teams to plan movement/action trees. 
  • Implement all state machines, layering, and blend trees. 
  • Explore/Use advanced blending, transitioning, and warping tools to improve animation performance. 
  • Support the development/validation of animation standards. 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with animators, programmers, and designers. 
  • A strong animation sense and a clear understanding of character motion and how to achieve it with modern animation methods.
  • Experience using Unreal's advanced animation system features. (Motion Warping, Motion Matching, Layers, and Pose Warping). 
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal's Animation Blueprints and related systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of animation state machines, gameplay mechanics, animations, and in-engine IK. 
  • Basic understanding of fundamental animation and rigging principles. 
  • Experience using animation software such as Motion Builder, 3ds Max, or Maya is a plus. 
  • Coding knowledge is not expected or required, but experience with C++ in Unreal is a plus.

Eligibility to participate in these benefits may vary for part-time and temporary full-time employees and interns with the Company.   
  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The full salary range for this position is $147,800 - $221,700 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, internal equity, and what you're looking for. 
  • In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as a sign-on bonus and short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
