Our studio is looking for an accomplished, mechanically focused AI designer who has experience creating exciting, interesting, and challenging enemy combatants in a shooter or other action game. As our AI Combatant Designer, you will collaborate with the PVE lead and the design team to develop, hold, and drive a vision for our AI design over the course of development.


  • Demonstrated experience using Unreal Engine and Blueprint visual scripting.
  • Collaborative, low-ego, self-motivated developer.
  • Independent thinker who is curious about feedback but confident enough to decide whether it's actionable.
  • Cares deeply about AI behavior and how it relates to the core player mechanics.
  • Has a clear understanding of how AI can be used to drive mastery of core player mechanics.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with the whole team, particularly designers, engineers, and animators, even in a remote work environment.
  • Strong sense of design process: able to drive playtesting; collect & synthesize feedback; and own your iterations.
  • Capable of creating and updating documentation to explore design thoughts, pitch ideas, achieve alignment, and facilitate asynchronous team communication.
  • Able to understand, align, and adapt with high-level project design goals and IP fantasy.
  • Shows empathy and respect for their fellow team members.

  • You'll be the nexus of our development efforts to develop AI combatants from the ground up, based on first principles, in order to fulfill clear design goals that you have helped to define and evolve.
  • You'll work with the team to make sure our AI combatants help drive player mastery; emphasize core game mechanics and principles; and are fun to fight against, either solo or cooperatively.

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a designer working on AI; and/or demonstrated proficiency in AI design via personal portfolio.
  • Design experience on a multiplayer coop game.
  • Design experience in system design.
  • Basic understanding of Unreal animation workflow.
  • Strong understanding of FPS combat principles.
  • Expertise in FPS games as a player.
